We will have a removal tool for the tips available in about 6 weeks. Your fingers will be very appreciative.
Thanks Jason. I'm glad it doesn't mean filters like with the Etys. Figured that's what it meant. And the removal tool sounds like a big improvement over my needle-nosed pliers.

As I noted, when you use other tips/sleeves, the treble tubes tend to get stuck inside the sleeve's inside sound tube (at least on the tips I have tried ... Shure foamies, Comply shorts), and that's where they really require a tool since they are so small. Of course, you have to be careful to not damage the treble tubes as well.

Where are you auditioning them?

Took Walie's suggestion and used new trble ++ tips with bass + port, stock Sleek flanged tips. WOW. Huge difference now in tonal balance. soundstage still slightly lacking over the Triple Fis, but also a $100+ price difference. For that difference, soundstage is suitable. Soundstage also better than my Ety 4p

Listening to Diana Krall with a jazz trio. Bass "fiddle" thumps accurately with no muddy sound and her piano just tinkles the way a piano should.

Also listened to some Miles Davis' fusion--On The Corner and some Bitches' Brew tracks. These are very difficult CDs to get right because of all the divergent sounds and at times downright cacaphony. Nonetheless, the Sleeks do a better job of isolating the bells, horns, electronica than the Etys did.

So rather happy now with the Sleeks. O and Jason of Sleek PMed me and recommended another combination of tips to use, so very happy with the customer service from Sleek.

Don't have alternate tips to try with the Sleeks and don't know if I even need them. We'll see.

O forgot to ask: to these Sleeks need to burn in or are they going to keep their original sound signature???

Heh, I found the ++ tubes (they are completely black, right?) hanging loose in the box soundearphones.com sent me. But I can't seem to remove the + tubes already in there... I thought I heard a crack when I tried twisting one of them out, but it may have been my fingernails. Still sounds good!

Yes, they are the new black ports. We tried to keep them in the invoice but I guess with shipping it fell out since they do not ship within the box yet....

If you are very careful, you can use a needle-nosed pliers to get a stubborn treble tube out. I stress the word careful, of course. Don't squeeze it, but just grip it firmly and pull it out. And look for the treble tube removal tube coming up.

My problem is on the other end. When I need to change foamies (Shure yellows), the treble tubes come out with the tips and stays stuck inside. And it's very snug, so I need to use the pliers to get them out of the tips. Not sure what else to do, besides stock up on treble tubes in case I crack one. The same thing happened when I tried the olives, so no doubt it would also happen with Complys, etc.

Also, this may sound dumb, but based on the photos, the thin part of the treble tube goes into the phone body, right? That's they way I've been doing it, and the photo shows it that way, plus the sound is awesome.

Question for Michael/Jason. Are the treble tubes going to be on sale individually? Seems that if you never need the treble- tube, why would you need to buy it? Same with the flanges? Or at least 3-packs of the same size/type? It seems if you replace those pieces, you have to buy one of each for the $22 package. Just a thought.

Tom, if they double-click into place, that's the right way.

The 'chubby' end should be at the top.

If it doesn't double click, it's likely to come out with the sleeve!

I read that, but I don't hear/sense much of a double click. I just followed the photos and it works.

It clicks once with the first push - and twice with the second. I'm only mentioning it because my own tubes kept coming out before I realised I hadn't double clicked. You can feel it rather than hear it.

Yes, they are available as the same type in a 3 pack. The function of the clear tip is to make sure it is kept clean and clear. Often oil, wax, and some stuff that makes me wonder what people put in their ears end up in the tube. This will allow you to see it and clean it. When the filter fills with oil or moisture you will notice a decrease in volume or impeded sound and you audiophile's do not want that. Better to ruin a treble tube than a driver.

Yes, a silver one would make it sound brighter, and a copper one would be a little more warmer.

SA6/Image

SA6/Image comparisons yet anyone? I'm thinking of trying a pair of the Images for kicks.
