no problem on your part, the P to S switch on the minibox does the same thing anyways. its actually a bit more managable not having to deal with the adaptor

I definitely get a lot more detail on the highs with the P to S and treble=/bass+ combo, but there are times when i just want a liquid smooth sound, so i switch to the treble+/bass+ with no adaptor for those times

what a wonderful set of IEMs. So many different forms of sound are available!!

OBOY--I really don't want to me too negative at this point, having had them both for only one day. BUUT since you asked:

Having very hard time getting the Triple-Fi to even fit regardless of tips Iuse. Maybe I'm dumb, but I dunno. That said, are these things really that bassy??? Will try the Custom 3 tips later and see if that helps. Cannot for the life of me toget the flange or the smaller tips to fit. They seem to pop off and don't remain. shame too for a $300+ IEM.

Sleek--still messing with the combinations. Had the bass+ and the treble+ installed. Some vocals--Mel Torme, Diana Krall--the treble waaay too much. And Chick Corea's "Three Ghouls" sent me screaming--the first 1:30 minutes has tinkling bells that tinkle through your head. With those treble+ they not only tinkled, they shouted. So maybe I go back to the bass + and treble=. This was the best for not only jazz volcals, most jazz and symphonic.

On both, I really don't think soundstage is superior to my Ety4p. Keep going back to the Etys. DOn't know. As I say, this is only my first day so I'm hoping some combination will fit and work, but we'll see.

Also ordering the Images Monday. Then I'll not only have about $1,000 in IEMs to play with, but will see if I retire the Etys in exchange for something newer.

O--using 5.5g Imod, ALO Jumbo dock as cable with Portaphile or Tomahawk.

O one other thing: I had burned Tony Bennett's A Wonderful Life"--duet with him and K.D> Lang--and both my Ety and Beyer 880 gae me what I'll describe as "clipping" through the entire CD. Burned to Apple Lossless and even reburned the CD with the same results. Using both these IEMs that "clipping", esp in the higher vocal ranges, is completely gone. Dunno why this happened but there it is

I had the same problem with all silicon tips provided by the Triple fi. I fixed that by modding a pair of Shure black foam tips and glueing them to the plastic tube of UE foamies. T400 comply tips will work too.

well, I went back on the Triple-Fi site and Oriel--a member here--had a review where he said (1) the Triples needed 100+ hours burn-in and (2) those tips were NOT inserted into the ear canal but rested just inside your ear. So maybe that's what I'm doing wrong, trying to shove them in too far. Don't know. More playing time is needed with these guys. But I think I'm ordering the Comply T-400 tips I mean what the heck, it's only money!!!

Would you say the Etymotics are still your favorite IEM overall? It's pretty amazing that it still holds its ground pretty well.

It seems the music you tend to listen to don't require much bass so the Etymotics seem quite suitable.

well, my gut sez yes but I'm getting lots of help with this from folks like Antonyfirst and a few others who have and have fiddled with the Triple Fi. I feel right now it is unfair to judge given that my Etys are about four years old and that's all I've used and now I'm messin' with two other IEMs for only a day and a half. So we'll see.

I may have mentioned before that Monday I'll order Images. Now THAT should be interesting. Three way shoot-off between some pretty decent IEMs.

I THINK if I cold get proper fit, the Triple Fi might be superior to the Sleeks but only conjecture at this point.

I am also shedding my former favorite IEM, the Atrios (which I kept and sold the Etys, just favored the former). I think I hit the sweet spot with the SA6s, and I really am enjoying the modular thing. Tried out the treble= today, and liked it with the Minibox. But with no amp, I moved back to the treble+ (gray) tubes. One thing remains constant, the bass+ module.

I also revisited the flanges (mediums), but put on a fresh pair of Shure yellow foamies and they gave the SA6s a fuller, richer sound to my ears. The flanges are nice, but I am just more prone to favoring the foams.

agreed, like Kees previously mentioned, adding foams (the shure olives in my case) is like adding another bass+ port

i'm also deciding whether to get a zune80 or cowon D2 to replace my ipod

I have a Zune80 (actually, a new one arrives tomorrow, long story), and they pair up very nicely. No need for EQ when you have IEMs that can be fine-tuned. Of course, you no doubt know about the Zune software. Not the best. But the interface isn't bad. One thing you must do: Make sure all your tags are good. I use WMP11's "advance tag editor" before I sync any tracks to the Zune. But I digress.

Zune80/SA6 is great match.

Funny, but I tried a pair of Shure olives today and didn't like them. A lot of different flavors in tips will work with these, I think. Only scary part is taking off the foamies, since in my case it also pulls out the treble tubes. Just have to be careful.

Question for Sleek people. The small user guide mentions replacing filters in the treble tubes, but does that mean replacing the entire tube, or the filters inside? Seems almost impossible to change anything inside the tubes, but the book does say "filters" can be replaced.

Can you explain Jason? Just curious. And wonder how often you expect the filters/tubes need to be replaced? I had some issues with er6is in terms of using too many filters, but not with the ER4Ps.

It should say replace the treble tip. These should not clog often unless you have very oily ears, or you sweat heavily while wearing these. I have ran a marathon in mine and still have not had to replace them, and they still run consistent graphs.

We will have a removal tool for the tips available in about 6 weeks. Your fingers will be very appreciative.

Will be auditioning a SA6 with in next 2 days (and probably bringing one home). *can't wait*
