Go-VibePetite+DAC Earphone Amplifier - Page 2

Not quite, the Micro Amp and Micro DAC have been out a couple of years, but are completely separate portable units. Only a a month or so ago did Headroom release a Micro Amp that has an optional DAC incorporated into one unit.

I think he's talking about the TotalBithead, not the Micro line.

Who cares...it's progression. And in the end, the consumer wins.

yep, the bithead's been out for a few years...AOS had the flute at one time, though very few were produced and i'm not sure they were ever sold to the public.

Portable amps look mostly the same to me. Keep us up to date about the Jaben Go-Vibe's formal release.

Anyone got this? I don't see the price

The Petite is a great amp... The first time I listened to it, I was blown away by it's clarity, it's one of the differences you could hear immediately. However, I felt it was a little analytical and flat, making it sound a little unnatural compared to my Visely HEA-1. But it's DAC is <3 Never heard such clarity from a computer, haha (haven't heard much others though :P).

A little OT, but how do you find the SQ5???

@Lil' Knight: With USB DAC, it costs SGD 250.

I wonder how this dac/amp combo compares with the current FOTM Pico and Predator.

My thoughts exactly with the GoVibe 6. I prefer the inbuilt amp on my TC-7510 as the GV6 sounds too analytical compared to the airyness of the TC-7510.

Well, mine is on the way!!!!!! Ecstatic to hear it and compare it to a modded D1 and a dedicated DAC like the Keces....

The Piccolo amp/Dac came out a few years ago, so a portable amp/DAC isn't the intellectual property of anyone. The more options the merrier, for all of us. Accusing people of stealing other's designs are serious allegations, and unless you've actually compared the circuit designs and know what you are looking at, you shouldn't insinuate anything to that effect. How an amp's casing looks really has nothing to do with the circuit design.
x3 for Pete7's comments. PJ, it's called a market segment. The shape of the box seems to be working on an evolutionary principle as good design often does, and the circuit boards I've seen don't look anything alike. There were indeed seriously influential precedents for all of these designs, at least the amp sections, but those were open-source, thanks to Chu Moy and Tangent.
