I have K701's and they mate very well with my micro stack but on the D1 it gives listening fatigue in about 10 minutes. I think the D1 would mate very well with either closed cans or the HD650's. I had HD600's that sound good but I just sold them because I decided to stick with the K701's.

Rolling opamps. I have replaced opamps before but they just lifted out and the new ones plugged in. The daughter boards that the L/R is on is throwing me off. Does the opamp come mounted like that or is it something I need to put together?

Dual DIP opamps are just plug and play. Dual SOIC opamps need to be soldered to a browndog.

If you're using single opamps (such as the AD797) you'll need to mount 2 of them on a single to dual brown dog adapter.

Check my review thread(in my sig) to see what the optimal opamps are. I've played a little with them and by far, the best configuration I've been able to find...

That was a nice review btw oicdn.

The combinations I like are as follows:

LR: AD797
Buffers: Bypassed
DAC: LT6241HV

LR: OPA2111
Buffers: LMH6643
LR: LT6241HV

The AD8656 was also nice for the dac with impact but the LT6241 was more detailed. Its a hard call but the LT6241 better suited my setup.

The LM4562 as buffers had a harsh treble that I didn't like.
