Looks like the people at MFSL are going to do there thing to Beck - Sea Change

Musicdirect -

This should be interesting as it already sounds fantastic as it is. Can they improve it ?

Awesome, I can't wait!

Great album, can't wait to give the MFSL a listen, I think it can benefit from their engineering.

The Sea Changes SACD is good enough I don't need an upgrade, honestly.

I wish they would focus more of their efforts on music that could really benefit the most from a proper mastering treatment. Sea Change on SACD is bar none one of the best sounding modern rock releases on the market right now. I would absolutely flip if they set their sights on remastering the last few Flaming Lips albums!

Thats why I posted it ,why waste time on a CD they could just spray gold and concentrate on some of the real s**t out there.?????

While I'd love what it said for MFSL to take on a flaming lips album, they really don't need a superior master done on their albums. They sound the way Wayne wants them to sound. I wouldn't trust any engineer to make different decisions with Wayne's art than Wayne makes on his own. The Flaming Lips albums aren't mistakes, no matter what else you may think of them.

Yeah, I've been saying this for a long time. Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin and Radiohead's OK Computer desperately need MFSL mastering. In fact, I think I'll email them right now; they've always been good with answering emails.

I agree with you fella, but I can't agree that they made a good decision in having their last album clip constantly. Pompeii am Götterdämmerung is a mini-masterpiece and it clips for almost the entire duration.

So, while I'd agree that any major changes to the overall sonics would be a bad idea, cooling the mixes down would be a very welcome change.

Welcome to you, but if wayne likes it the way it is, you'll have a hard time convincing him to do it...

Can't see him being too opposed to authorizing an obscure audiophile remaster. Again, not much would need to be done, their sound is compressed and loud to begin with - just keep it out of the red.

Lets see this on some of Beck's other albums!

Sea Change is the last album they need to focus on. In fact most of Beck's albums are in pretty good to great shape sound wise. Midnite Vultures could use a little cleaning up now that I think about it.

Edit: Personally, De-Loused in the Comatorium is extremely high on the list I would love to see them work their magic on.

Sea Change is an HDCD as well but this will be nice for those of us who don't have a compatible player.

It is? They don't advertise the fact on the CD case. At least not on mine.
