Some that spring to mind;
- Little dot MKIII or MKII
- Darkvoice Figaro

I haven't heard any of these, just adding to the list ;P.

Ok, does your PC have digital out, either Optical or Coaxial? This can help narrow down what options you have. Thanks!

Try the G&W TW J1
G&W TW-J1

It looks like they only deliver to the EU. I've seen them on ebay for for less than $100

I have modified mine (Power reg diodes swapped for Hexfreds made the biggest difference), but even in standard format it is a very good H/phone amp.
I also have a Little dot II++ and prefer the J1 with my Senn HD650's.

yes it has coaxial digital out

You might want to go for E-MU 0404 USB, and use it's internal amplifier. Source improvement at your point for HD595 is far more beneficial.

I know you started out looking for a headphone amp, and for a budget consideration, I would recommend either the LDII++ or the new LD MKII, which releases in a few weeks.

Another budget idea is a DAC/Headphone amp/Pre-amp unit like the Zero.

Here are a few links to check out those possiblities:

LDII++ Little Dot 2 PLUS PLUS II++ Headphone Amp Amplifier! - (eBay item 190185350288 end time Dec-29-07 18:10:26 PST)
LD MKII Viewing a thread - The Little Dot MK II Headphone Tube Amplifier/Pre-Amp
Zero DAC/Amp http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/rev...re-amp-269458/
Zero Sold by: ZERO 24/192 DAC D A CONVERTOR , HEAD FI AMP , BRAND NEW - (eBay item 230206044408 end time Dec-29-07 23:33:03 PST)

PM me if you need more information on any of these. Happy Holidays!!

I also own a Sennheiser HD595 and my source is a computer. I'm thinking of getting an EMU 0404 USB because I'm using onboard sound and maybe later buy a Little Dot MKII.

I would also add to that list the Meier Arietta if you want something solid state, rather than a Little Dot. Although the warmth of the little dot does wonders for the 595s.

I'm looking for something similar to the OP. I want some more bass and more clarity, but I'm not sure if I want to get a tube amp or a dac/amp combo. I use a presonus firebox as an external soundcard (a recording device along the lines of a emu0404).
