Subwoofer cable with Tivoli question

I have a Tivoli Model 2 at home, i would like to use it with my HSU subwoofer. The HSU is active. I was wondering if i could build my own mini (tivoli sub out is a 1/8 jack) to RCA (for the hsu sub in). Would this combination work, do i need special cable or plugs or would any would work. PS i am not trying to buold a magical and expensive cable, just a cable that would make it work.

Also if that work, are any of you know if by plugging the sub to the tivoli the bass will be override by the sub or will the tivoli speaker still send bass, because the bass of the tivoli sound really bad with some material.

Let me know, thanks.

I'd say just go buy a mini to rca cable and if the HSU has only one rca in instead of the right and left get a male to female x2 y cable as well.

Hmm this i dont know but chances are the bass sounds bad because of the recording. Those are pretty nice radios I have never heard one sound bad myself.

It's almost hard to believe that a portable radio has a subwoofer pre-out, but the Tivoli Model Two does, and Tivoli even offers their own proprietary subwoofer.

A single mini-RCA cable should do the trick. Judging by the lack of a crossover control on the Model Subwoofer, it's likely that the Model Two does the low-pass filtering, so you'll want to plug into the crossover bypass jack on the Hsu subwoofer.

The Tivoli sub woofer is a pretty small, low-wattage one designed to enhance the bass and not much more.
I don't know anything about the HSU, but if it's one of those floor shakers, I think it would be overkill and might actually get in the way of the Tivoli sound, which I really enjoy.

Ok do you think i need to lookout for mono stereo 1/8 jack? Or would an regular stereo plug would be good to go with a RCA plug?

Actualy the HSU can become a floor shakers, but when it is well set it sound really good and blend into the music.

You'll want a mono 1/8" jack (TS), since a single RCA plug is mono. Something like this, if you're willing to DIY. That particular jack has a large cable outlet (6mm), meaning that it can fit larger cable types than typical 1/8" jacks.

Otherwise, you could use an adapter or have the cable custom built.

If you need a cable, try Markertek's site. They have what you need, with prebuilt Canare or Belden cables.
