Why buy a stand when you can get an entire head?

mannequin head, Food Service Retail, Hair Care items on eBay.com

A mannequin head is perfect and there's a ton of them on eBay. Also a great way to store a hat and a convenient place to put your sunglasses.

Maybe its just me but mannequin heads freak me out.

I still say go for the Woo. It is worth it.

I drew up a basic design in mspaint, and am trying to get a woodworking company to build this for me. Basically a bunch of wall mounted floating platforms.

The approximate location is above the bed, so I can stow them as I get sleepy right before nodding off. Probably round off the bottom corners so they are not as sharp, so that your chi can flow around them when you are sleeping.

If you had woodworking skills, and the know-how to install floating platform / hidden hardware, you could do something like this yourself without much trouble.
