that's because many people uses senns
i think you will not go wrong with either amp you choose, but if you want neutral amp, LD is the answer, if you're looking for coloration then search elsewhere

I guess I am in for some coloration, yes. Since the K701's are neutral by nature it would be nice to have an amp that add some 'joy' in terms of oempf in the lower frequencies. Does that make any sense

Will tube-rolling the Darkvoice 33x give me the desired sound?

Upon all that I read is that the DV332 will be too bright/neutral for the AKG's?
I guess my best bet is the DV336 which is considered 'warmer'?

Please enlighten me....

So, the group feel is that the K701 needs a tube amp with more colorization then. Ok, no problem at all. I wasn't aware of that part of it. I think it's too bad, but it does make sense from the "more bass" part. I suspect that one of the DV units would give you the colorization and extra bass needed then. Have a good one!!

This issue you guys are up against has me bothered. When I re-read what had been said,

"I wanted to achieve 'eargasm' level, amp that give me the best "WOW" factor... currently my source is great enough to feed any single ended amps, and the built in amp is superior than any of solid state amps that I owned before. Doesn't mean I want to stop here, I just wanted to get a tubes amp, and wanted to experience it's lushness, rich midrange, and more 'emotional' in my own word."

and thought about this for a while, the question that came to my mind was, Has anyone with K701s acheived the same "special synergy" with a tube amp that HD-650 owners have been acheiving since the LDII++ came out? I honestly don't know. If it has been tried and can't be duplicated, wouldn't it be easier and more cost effective to buy the HD-650 and any one of the amps with this "special synergy" and start enjoying? Just thinking out loud.

That actually crossed my mind..... But I can't imagine that there isn't a tube amp out there that can provide the same Wow-factor as the Sennheiser/Darvoice/Little Dot combination.
I am about to take the plunge and buy the DV332. Then I can tweak the sound to my liking with tube-rolling

Ya, I hear ya! I think it may be the only option. I guess if you did this and the combo still comes up short, you could still pick up the HD-650s and all would be good.

Well I already have K701 as the HD650 counterpart, and I think I already have too many headphones. If I wanted to get another new cans, I would take on electrostats cans (Stax!) or higher end cans like ED9, TakeT or W5K.

But I can't deny, I wanted HD650... HD600 was my dream cans.
Maybe later... later.... just to satisfy my ego.

Don't get me wrong fellas, it is all good. Headphones are a very "personal" thing and people buy them for a variety of reasons that can't be disputed. What is important is the "love" for headphones, which we all have.
