That amp is gorgeous.. I want one, just for the looks...

One thing I'd love to see is a solid state amp that looks as good as some tube amps do. I'm not really a tube fan but I do admire the effort that goes into their presentation.

Just found out that it isn't an actual iPod dock. Connection is via 1/8" jack in rear of unit. The photo is a bit deceiving but it sure does look great!

Turns out Santa brought me one of these for Christmas

Pics and impressions coming. But after 24 hours of burn in, and having immediately put NOS RCA 6BQ5 and 5751's in it, I can say this is a very beautiful looking and sounding tube amp.

That's great Skylab. I for one am anxious to hear your impressions. I have owned a few Ming Da pieces in the past and have been pleasantly surprised.

Here is a pic for the curious. I really like this amp. It's definitely on the warm and lush side. It borders on over the top syrupy tube sound, but it's just short of that, and I find it very enjoyable. It's a nice change of pace from my Darkvoice 337 and Singlepower Extreme, which are superb amps, but are less "tubey" sounding. More detailed review to come.

Thanks for voicing a thought that I wasn't conscious of.

It seems to me that designers could do a LOT more with audiophile solid states: Exotic wood facades. Glass or plexiglass "windows" to spotlight eye-catching interiors -- including interior color LEDs. Brass knobs. Industrial-looking aluminum cases with other metal or chrome highlights. Feet that are style accents rather than afterthought rubber warts. Serious, unobtrusive gauges that provide useful visual feedback re under-the-hood processing. All in a package that exudes professional class and refinement rather than loud plastic splash.

But without the glowing tubes, it just isn't the same

I agree with Skylab on this one !

Love your Christmas present !

Very impressive looking amp. Would also like to hear about how it sounds.

Skylab, I would like you to keep an amp (within my $500 price limit) long enough to convince me to buy it! You almost had me with the ASLabs MG head MKIII, But then you went and sold it on the down low!

Looks very nice.
