Sennheiser HE60

Thread Starter
Hello!

I have been looking to get into electrostatic headphones for a while. What do you think about this auction? What would be a reasonable price for the headphones in this condition?

Sennheiser HE60 Electrostatic Headphones - eBay, Headphones, Earphones, Accessories, Electronics. (end time 21-Dec-07 04:58:43 AEDST)

Thanks for you help!

PS: My first post.

it will go for much more than that.

They should go for 1500-2000$US depending on how insane the market is.

And the poor bastard winner gets to realize the hidden costs of HE60 ownership, starting with real amplification, cables, source, down to the darn caps. I just dropped a couple hundred bucks on a few VCap teflons in my HE60 chain

Did anybody say it was easy... They do sound good out of any amp but it takes a lot to fully realize their potential.

There was one (HE60+HEV70) sold on eBay early this month for around 1300USD. Price is determined by how many people want it. For the headphone only I think 700-1000USD is a reasonable price based on the current market.

I'd say that this estimate is pretty realistic. I've been watching and looking for HE60's for a little while now and I'd say that, without any amplification (HEV70), the phones will go for just over $1000.

In my opinion people should pay extra not to be subjected to the failure that is HEV70

That headphone would need to be reterminated so if you can't DIY it will be some 200$ at least. The market can be hard to nail down which is a good thing since I got all of my stuff at much less then market value...

Yup, double even. Even the old crappy Stax amps are better and they don't break down all the time.

You can say that again. Mine has been returned under warranty as we speak, because of nasty hum problems...

On the HD700 thread, it seems rumored that after the release of their wooden dynamic phone in January that they might be starting a new line of electrostats. Would be very cool if it were true. I guess the headphone market is bigger now than it has been at any time in history so perhaps there would be a market for them.

Me too. I hardly buy anything is over the current market value. But there is exception sometimes.

Wait, so what exactly are you betting on here? I'd be game
Are you estimating that they will go substantially less than $1000 or substantially more?
My guess is that they go for between $950-1050, just over or just under $1000. This would be USD, I don't know the exact exchange rate with AUS dollars.

ya I think it's gonna be around 1000USD too. It was like 1800-2000USD in the early 2007 for a whole system. I was watching out the very last auction on eBay and the price stopped at 1300USD (I don't remember the exact number). People more desire for R10, HP1, L3000 these days.
