Cheap speakers/monitors ?

Hey guys

I need a pair of speakers/monitors for $50/60 USD. What do you guys recommend ?

I don't want 2.1 setups. My experience is the bass is always super heavy and just outright obnoxious.

I need them for a DJ setup.

Do you need active/powered or passive monitors?

...not much out there for that small budget that's worth buying imo.

Passive is totally fine. Active monitors at my price range would either be a dream ... or a total rip off, heh

Honestly, I probably would just save up for a slightly better pair. Like GreatDane said, not a lot in that price range.
I recently picked up a pair of Onix Reference 0.5's, used here on Head-Fi, for under $200 shipped. Really well built mini-monitors.
You might be able to pick up some older model B&W monitors for under $200 shipped as well that would serve you much better than a new $50 pair, in my opinion.

I agree with GreatDane and Jussei. You really can't get much for 50.00, even used.

Whats the exact use of these going to be?

You probably want active, seeing how passive would require external amplification.
