Why replace the cable?
is it not better to wait till it breaks before replacing it? The vmoda cable is just for ergonomics right?

Yeah, the cable is a bit awkward to use and for $15 that V-Moda audio only cable just makes so much sense. This headphone with $30 worth of pads and cable just transforms into a big upgrade.

The stock cable is long, rubbery, and poorly built. Plus, the V-Moda cable doesn't have the screw on adapter (which I find annoying).

Yeah, I'd rather have the replacement cable from the get go rather than waiting for it to inevitably die to replace it then.

I have the CAL + FiiO E10 ... listening to trance and dance music mainly, rock and even then ... computer game ...
For me better CAL 2, Denon AH-D1100 or Q40??
thanks

I wouldn't consider any of those a significant upgrade per se. I'd save up a bit for the next price bracket.

A little headsup.

I have been waiting on buying the Q40. at the price of 49 gbp.

Don't wait to long.

Amazon stopped selling at this price. Only on the website andif international at ebay. All sold by Music matter uk.

So what do you recommend??

I would not spend more than 100 € ...

I've had the CAL and to me the Q40 with alpha pads, V-Moda cable is a big upgrade.

Stretching out my Q40s as I speak. Love the sound of them (Always have). How is the isolation on the Shure pads compared to stock?

Stuff it, ordered the Shure pads from Amazon.com.

Anybody compared the Q40 to HD380? Trying to figure out, if they're an upgrade.

I'd put them in the same ballpark. Isolation is much better on the HD380, but it clamps quite a bit.

Bought them on amazon, GBP49 is a great price for these and I'm considering DT770 velours and HM5 pleathers as replacement pads as well as a V-Moda audio-only cable.

Keep us posted on how you think the velours impact the bass.

I would expect the bass quantity to lessen because I got the same effect when I replaced the pleathers on my HD25 ALU with velours (as well as isolation), but true impressions will have to wait until after I get them in two weeks (going back to HK for a week from friday but had them shipped to UK) :)
