RCA splitters - Page 2

yes, i realize that they are sponsors................ but come on--50% more!!!

that's like paying $500 for your MG Head........... or.... $25,000 for a Honda Civic...... or blah blah blah

you should support vendors that provide good prices. a 50% markup IS NOT a good deal. ....if you like Headroom's amps.... go right ahead............ but if you can get something for half the price........ hell................ come on......

"Besides, it's common for retail shops to mark up cables 2x their cost."---well, i have yet to find a store marking things up 50% more than retail. but yes, there are plenty of stores that would rip you off if they could.... but that doesn't make it right.

...and so what if Headroom is a sponsor?--does that mean we should not criticize them at all?

anyway......... just letting you guys know, Vampire has them for $20 on their web site, and incidentally, their shipping is much cheaper than Headroom's.

You know what? Those guys at Headroom might give you free shipping if you ask nicely! Never hurts to ask.
I also recommend the Vampire RCA splitters that I bought from Headroom. You know you have got a well built product when you compare it to some of the cheap splitters Radio Shack has to offer.

No. You misunderstand.

I mean with cables and interconnects, most retail shops mark up 2x what it costs them.

So if your local shops pays $20 for a set of Kimber Tonik interconnects, they sell them for $40.

The markup on electronic components is much lower. So you can’t compare the markups on headphones and electronics to the markups on cables and interconnects.

i got some gold RCA splitters, solid one piece for roughly US$4 each.
To my own surprise I actually found them to constrict the sound slightly!

looks like vampires might be the only go.

shipping is gonna hurt!

oh, okay..... yeah... but that's just business. of course. the markup exists because a store has to make money..... nothing wrong with that. you know, my friend imports beauty products for hong kong.... for let's say.... well, it costed him about $1/item let's say. guess what?--he sells in USA for $50-$100 for the same item!!! that's 5,000% increase! (he's a zillionaire)....

i didn't say that's wrong. afterall, he is STILL cheaper than ANYONE in the USA. the problem is that i was ripped off!--i personally bought 2 pairs of those things from headroom--and for the price i paid, i could have bought 3 or more from vampire themselves! that's just simply ripping people off.... you know what i mean?

Is your friend not "ripping people off" with his 5,000% increase in price. That is a harsh choice of words. What you decry is the standard dealer mark-up.You were not ripped off,you were charged retail. Please make that clarification. If you found it cheaper, great for you.To say that you were somehow cheated is an implication of the business practices of Headroom.Did you ask for a discount? Do they charge anymore than any other dealer? You paid what?.......$10.00 more for the connectors and you claim you were ripped off? I have no idea what you mean.

k tuberoller..........

i just called vampire, and they said the SUGGESTED RETAIL is $20.50 a pair. in other words, they are suggesting that after the markup, the item should be sold at $20.50. headroom is $30.......

business is all about buying low and selling high. my friend marking up 5,000%-10,000% is still a good deal for Americans!--he's still lower than the competition (And that's why he has so much money.) but if he were to sell for double the price of the competition, for the same exact product, no one would buy from him because he's "ripping people off."---which was all i was suggesting.... for you guys not to buy this specific product from headroom because their price is halarious.

headroom is selling something for 50% more than what that item is worth in the marketplace.... and continues to sell because people don't know any better. i sure didn't.... i bought $60 worth of those things from them....

i'm not exactly sure why you guys are arguing with me.... it seems like you guys don't care about how much money you spend on things. but when i pay more than what something is worth, ...and i mean MUCH more than what something is worth (50%).......well heck.... i was an idiot.

tuberoller, "You paid what?.......$10.00 more for the connectors and you claim you were ripped off? I have no idea what you mean." --$10,00 more for a $20 item is 50%. and 50% ABOVE suggested retail is frickin' insane! you don't need a MBA to understand relative cost as opposed to absolute cost...

but back to the subject..... those vampire splitters are the way to go. ...and if you don't like the solid versions headroom sells, vampire has models with the jacks on rotatable pivots....

and also, those vampire splitters were probably outsourced from OEMs.... cause i've seen other brands that are identical.... but i bought vampires just cause i believe in the brand

I know this thread is old, but hoping someone can help. I am also looking for an RCA splitter and an debating between a few options. I found the vampire plugs on their site. They are now $24 each. I found another set that look identical for $14. Also a set from Emotiva and Audioquest that might be good. I have never owned anything from Ausioquest, but they are a name I have heard of plenty. Any suggestions would be great.
