Regarding the feeling of yours you are talking about, I have provided all the impressions I could and given all the hints that came to mind to describe this IEM. Many people have been buying the Triple fi lately, and they know exactly what to expect from them. I wouldn't change anything from my review: neither the enthusiasm about the great sound quality, nor the frustration I gathered from the lack of comfort. As this happens in a moment of tension in my life, such a frustration makes me difficult to enjoy the sound. There are some people who are giving their own point of view about the matter (sound & fit), so whoever reads can make his mind and decide if this IEM is for him.
i couldnt agree more, the triple fi are an amazing set of earphones that is brilliant but very hard to enjoy. the design has always baffled me a little because you would think ultimate ears would surely notice peoples biggest complaint would be the fit of their universal earphones. and yet they release the triple fi with the same design as the super fi series which the complaints were aimed at.

the only evidence that ultimate ears is taking note of its customers is the recently released super fi 4 its just a shame they didnt think of the idea a little earlier what can ya do...

sorry you read my comment the wrong way i was agreeing completely with tony but just trying to show people a simpler way of seeing the problem. lots might think its down to the cable itself but as tony confirmed its more due to design making the cable sit on the ear uncomfortably compared with many other phones

Some people are more sensitive to cables than others. I didn't get on with some of the Shure cables at all, finding them stiff, intrusive and annoying.

If the cable annoyance can't be overcome, I can see why Tony would find it affecting his enjoyment of the music. Once you've got an annoying cable, it's hard not to become obsessed with it. I disliked the Shure SE310 cable intensely. It was completely unyielding and 'kinky' and I was always aware of it.

as mentioned above my point was more towards the problem being design rather than actual cable, i agree totally tho, i was completely obsessed with the cable on the ety er6i, it was just so thin i was scared to tug on it even slightly, this worry made me always check the cable by taking the earphones out making sure it was still in the connection correctly, completely spoiling any enjoyment

Then you admit you have had issues with cables. This one is not very microphonical, but is too stiff and annoying. When I realize I can't move my head without heavily noticing the cable against my face, or against my ears, this is the moment I decide to give up.

I've tried quite a few things to solve this issue, from inventing some shirt clips to experimenting other fantasious ideas. No way, even with the shirt clip, the part of the cable over it felt too intrusive when I moved. Partially because of the way it connects to the case (even if with the flip flop mod it's a bit more comfortable).
This is not the way I enjoy a IEM, or music at all.

oh hell yeh ive had cable problems in the past, like i said there was the issue with er6i, i had a shure e3c cable split on me, ive had the metal wire come through some super fi 5 pro's within 2 months, ive had a fair few problems, the only reason i said what i did is because i thought it was the actual feel of the cable surface that bothered you, but we cleared that up and sorted out its the way the cable actually fits and feels heavy on movement.

like i said i couldnt agree more, heavy cables are a pain and ill admit right now i had the same problem as you with my shure se530 and i didnt even realise there was a shirt clip in the metal box until months into using the earphones, but since using the clip its taken all the weight off the cable and sorted that problem for me, i only get the odd pull now and then when i restrict the cable with a fairly tight coat or jacket, this is because ofcourse the cable needs to move up and down with your head movement and when the coat rubs the cable as it tries to move that heavy weight effect is back

The issues I've been having with comfort are not the only reason for me to have sold the Triple fi. The other one is personal, partly financial, but doesn't need to be made public as it involves my current situation, not the headphones. I've talked to the people involved, however.

nc8000's Triple fi is not my pair. Jan bought his own from Earphone solution, and it's nice to see how fast Danish customs has been in releasing his package. It's also great to see how much he likes the sound, and that he's not disappointed after having read my thought in this thread.
I can see IpodPJ's disappointment having thought Jan was my buyer, and he already received the Triple fi. My pair is still in my hands, but it'll have to leave soon.

I've received my T2 back from iBasso's warranty, so before I ship the Triples I'm giving another comparison between them and the recabled Etymotic, but this is matter for another post.
How does this sound? I'll pay you $20 to not sell them - then we just need 10-15 more people to do the same.

Tony,
I just noticed in your music that you like Mr. Bungle. I doubt most people even know who they are (well, him actually). It is without a doubt some of the weirdest music I've ever heard, if you can even call it music. I have the "California" CD. I didn't really care for the earlier ones. It's time for a new album already. What's it been, like 15 years?

And that was a nice offer from HeadphoneAddict. He was trying to give you some "Sweet Charity"

Hahaha exactly. I appreciate the act, which was very funny.

Give a listen to Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle (album). While it's impossibly rude (especially "Squeeze me macaroni", "The girls of ****", "Carousel") both music and words are really funny. Mr Bungle (Mike Patton, formerly in Faith no More) is able to merge different styles and make fun of them (in "My 4ss is on fire" he makes fun of power metal, among the others).

Now let's concentrate again on the headphones (or at least on music), which are surely more interesting than me for this board.

You should try listening to "Moosebutter" if you like funny music but think Wierd Al never had an original thought in his life.

BTW, I'll pay you $1 to take my $20

Naw, this time I'm kidding. I already sent your money to Bo Mashiach Ministries, Tiberias, Israel - Come Messiah instead. Really.

Another good one for weird and provocative texts is old Tom Lehrer. He only made 3 records in the 60's but they have been reissued as a box set with tracks from some of his television programs as well. Very not political correct texts. He is american but actually made his last public concert in Copenhagen here in Denmark.

And back to the thread subject matter. This is my portable setup with the TFP. The inclusion of the TFP airline adapter has both made the system more enjoyable and more compact as the 1/8" jack now faces the same way as the ALO micro dock so nothing is sticking out both ends of the rig.

Remaining within the 60s, I'd like to point you all towards Captain Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica. He's the crazy version of Frank Zappa, which says all. His songs distort the normal rules of blues and are something revolutionary. Each track lasts 2-3 minutes and is completely improvised, evolving from the start to the end. They retain a lot of crazy and are able to picture different states of mind, and rage.
It's so good he deserves my 1500th post on Headfi.

Then, if you want to rape your ears, give a listen to Velvet Underground's most experimental song: Sister Ray. It's absolutely crazy, based on noise and improvisation. Instead of plaing bass guitar, John Cale connected a church organ to a guitar amplifier in order to obtain and modulate "noise". Lyrics are some of the most clever I've ever read. The song is about a murder in a drag queens's work place.

Maybe this will invite you to give it a listen:

Velvet Underground - Syster Ray (aka: how to spend my 1500th post on Headfi):

Doug and Sally inside
They cookin' for the Down Pipe
Who's staring at Miss Rayon
Who's busy licking off her Pig Pen
I'm searching for my mainline
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
Aw just like Sister Ray said
Whip it on.

Rosie and Miss Rayon
They're busy waiting for her booster
Who just got back from Carolina
She said she didn't like the weather
They're busy waiting for her sailor
Who's big and dressed in pink and leather
He's just here from Alabama
He wants to know a way to earn a dollar
I'm searching for my mainer
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
I couldn't hit it sideways
Aw just like Sister Ray said
Lay it on him.

Cecil's got his new piece
He cocks it shoots it between three and four
He aims it at the sailor
Shoots him down dead on the floor
Oh you shouldn't do that
Don't you know you'll stain the carpet
Now don't you know you'll stain the carpet
And by the way have you got a dollar
On no man I haven't got the time-time
To busy sucking on a ding-dong
She's busy sucking on my ding-dong
Oh she does just like Sister Ray said
I'm searching for my mainline
I said c-c-c-couldn't hit it sideways
I said c-c-c-c-c-c-couldn't hit it sideways
Ah do it do it just su-su-su-suck
That's ju-ju-just excellente
Oh!

Now who is that knocking
Who's knocking at my chamber door
Now could it be the police
They come and take me for a ride-ride
Oh but I haven't got the time-time
Hey hey hey she's busy sucking on my ding-dong
She's busy sucking on my ding-dong
Aw now do it just like Sister Ray said
I'm searching for my mainline
I couldn't hit it sideways
I couldn't hit it sideways
Oh now just like
Oh just like
Ah just like
Ah just like
Oh just like
Oh just like.

Doug and Sally inside
Now move it along
Cookin' for the Down Pipe
Who's staring at Miss Rayon
Do it do it do it do it do it do it
Who's licking off Pig Pen
I'm s-s-s-searching for my mainline
I couldn't hit is sideways
I couldn't hit it sideways
Just like
Oh just like
Do it do it do it
Just like
Just like
Just like.

Now Rosie and Miss Rayon
They busy waiting for her booster
She's just back from Carolina
She said she's bound to beat a sailor
I said she haven't got the time-time
You're busy sucking on my ding-dong
You busy sucking on my ding-dong
Now just like Sister Ray said
I'm searching for my mainline
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
Whip it on me Jim
Whip it on me Jim
Whip it on me Jim
Whip it on me Jim
Said I couldn't hit it sideways
Oh do it now just like
Just like Sister Ray said.

I said now Cecil's got his new piece
He cocks it shoots it bang between three and four
He aims it at the sailor
He shoots him down dead on the floor
Oh you shouldn't do that
Don't you know you'll hit the carpet
Don't you know you'll mess the carpet.

Oh she hasn't got the time-time
Busy sucking on his ding-dong
She's busy sucking on his ding-dong
Now just like Sister Ray said
I'm searching for my mainline
Couldn't hit it sideways
Couldn't hit it sideways
And just like
And just like
And just like
S-Sister Ray said
Now do it to him.

Doug and Sally inside
They're busy cooking for the Down Pipe
Who's staring at Miss Rayon
Busy licking off her Pig Pen
I'm busy searching for my mainline
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
I said I couldn't hit it sideways
Now just like
Now just like
I said ah-uh
