Dominic...if you rely TOO much on graphs and stats...you'll never hear the difference between different DAPs or headphones.

Comparing to my HD20GA7, the Sony CD has "slightly" more treble and deeper

Actually iaudio has some cool features, which I believe their MP3 players have
the most sound effect choices that can be played with.
For those who wants more original and probably HIFI sound, Kenwood would be the best choice I've heard so far.

I just ordered Sony A818 because my HD20GA7 was stolen. I hope Sony MP3 players have the SQ of its CD players. Can't Wait!
I own a DNF-430 Sony Portable CD Player, SanDisk Sansa e260 and Sony MP3 Walkman S616. I use a pair of Sennheiser PX-100s and all of my music is encoded via EAC & LAME @ 320kbps. (note: I still buy CDs exclusively and only listen to MP3s on the road).

The Sony CD Player makes the mp3 players sound like crap in comparison, but I think it mostly has to do with the fact that the CD player has a fairly decent amp. I just ordered the iAudio 7 because its amp is at least as powerful as the one found on the Portable CD Player, so hopefully I have found an mp3 player that can finally produce a rich, full and huge soundstage.

That's a very religious question Chances are your ears require more burn-in the the dap.
