Pico Or Predator amp? - Page 5

Almost - I've auditioned them with APS re-cabled RS-2 and APS re-cabled HF-1 so far, but RS-1 arrive tomorrow.

See second page of the thread I think, for where I felt the ranking was similar whether Grado or Ultrasone were used. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f5/min...-lyrix-306883/

Pico needs no burn in,Predator some say it needs many hrs burn in.

Yeah, it's shame the Predator needs so many hours on it (over 1,000 which sounds kinda crazy), but the end result is really impressive.

You don't need to put anywhere near 1000 hrs on it to get it sounding great, I found somewhere around 350 to be just fine.

Funny, I knew what he meant right away.

it's a lame answer but you really need time with both to sort out which you will like better. For me the answer was obvious the pico was more refined and added almost no sonic overtones to the music while I found the predator had a punchy lively sound that some seem to crave. If you can spend some time with each it affords you to get a bette sense of what each brings to the table, quick hit listens tend to be misleading. I tend to like a more neutral sound with great instrument separation over the headstage. This is why getting together with local headfi members is so valuable. What is dead on for me as a sonic preference may be very different that what anyone is trying achieve with their rig.
