Only mildly penetrative earbuds?

Since I'm totally n00b, I'll try to keep this as short and informative as possible.

I'm getting my mom a Cowon iAudio 7 player for xmas. My dad wants to get her headphones for it. They should be earbuds, and I think she'd prefer in-ear headphones. But I've had some bad experiences with the Shure e4cs that I bought, as I couldn't get them to fit properly with anything other than the foam.

So I guess the reason I'm making this thread is because I need to know something I can't find in the specs - which of the in-ear headphones is as easy-fitting as possible? Which requires the least penetrating into the ear canal, doesn't get many complaints, etc? Does such an in-ear bud exist? Also, she will be wearing them to the gym, if that's relevant.

She'll be listening to audio books mainly, but also recently fell in love with Timbaland, so bass would be a good thing. She will likely also listen to Andrea Bocelli and other random stuff, but as it'll be mainly for audio books I think $50-100 is all we're looking to spend.

Future Sonics Atrio tips are fantastic, so easy to get in and out and so comfortable. These tips are in my ears about 6 hours every day and there is no discomfort at the end! Not to mention the sound quality of Future Sonics products with its super deep and tight bass, just amazing!!!

Can we stop about the deep bass on Atrios? First hear what deep bass really sounds like.

Ah yes. I should've mentioned that my dad is already getting the PK2s for Christmas (from me), and I'd rather they not get they 2x the same gift.

Also, they're not in-ear, and my mom wants in-ear.

See what you can find with regards to Denon AH-C700, Altec Lansing IM716. The latter comes with triflanges and foamies, one of those two is going to be comfy.

I think you might be looking for something like the Sony MDR-EX71. They're not really as truly in-ear as the Shure E4c, but do form a pretty easy to find seal. They're the "in-ear" style buds I give to people who don't want to hassle with true IEM.

There are many other canalphones like the EX71s, so look around. The Sharp MD33s used to be real popular. I haven't kept up with what's currently on the market.

Postscript: MaloS beat me to it, but the Denon AH-C700 is another type of canalphone like the EX71.

For an IEM, it has very deep bass...this is agreed upon by everyone that owns this IEM.

Obviously I am not comparing it to headphones, they are a different species alltogether!

the Ety style triple flange are anything but comfortable...I used mine for about 2 days before giving them the flick and using the bi-flange and foamies.

Possible canalphones: JVC Marshmellows, JVC fx66, Sennheiser CX300, Creative ep630

They should all be under $100..

The Marshmallows and EP-630 are usually under $20 and $40 respectively. I don't know if you want to go under your budget, but they're there if so.

Creative EP630s are nice, have tried them.

OVCs semm good, but havnt tried them, also what about the Mylar series from Jaben?

From what I can understand off the OVC T20 thread, they seem to be of the same build type as the Mylars, so if they're canalphones then so are the OVCs

I have actually read that OVC are the OEM for the Mylars!!! They are going cheap on the sponsor thread for just $19, they seem very stylish too!!!
