2007 Scion tC, 5 speed

About 27MPG city
About 33MPG highway

I've gotten as high as 36 on the highway if I keep my foot out of it

2005 Subaru wrx
been getting 21-22MPG for a long time now and always keep track of miles per tank so its pretty accurate. Highest I ever got was 27-28mpg driving super slow intentionally and short shifting. That's a mix of local and freeway. I guess like 60 or 70% freeway.

I only drive on the highway - 100 miles a day. I get about 26-28 MPG depending on traffic.

91 bmw 535i, I can get as good as 20, if I drive like your grandmother, but it's usually closer to 14.

I drive a lot of short trips, my mileage stinks...but I wouldn't have thought it was THIS bad, relatively.

2000 Accord 4cyl
~23 mpg (city)
~32 mpg (hwy)

Thing is, driving an old, crappy mileage car is actually better for the environment than throwing that car away and buying a new one. My car has 300k miles on it...

I also have a Prius (2005 model), averaging 48-50 currently. Over the summer I can routinely hit 53 with about 40/60 city/highway driving.

All those people who complain about the Prius not hitting its EPA estimates just don't know how to drive smoothly. The 60mpg city rating is far too optimistic, but the 51mpg highway rating is also rather pessimistic. The 2008 ratings are just stupidly low. I live in hilly New England. When I took a road trip to the flat midwest last spring, I was doing 56-57mpg on the freeway.

Yup. I know I can get better mpg if I drove slower than 70+mph that I do on the freeway but I'm still really happy with the mpg I get PLUS I get to use the HOV lane on my long commute... that time savings is priceless, imo.
