i don't drive, but when i did i drove a large wagon passat diesel. it got at best 4.4 L per 100 km. We did 1660km per tank once. my dad did the math that time and it came to mid 60mpg. diesel is just so much better - big car and load more klicks than a small civic.

that was 2/3 highway

Ranges between 28-32 for my Mazda in mixed driving. Almost always 30, but in the coldest part of winter it will drop to 28-29.

1998 Saturn SL. 5-Speed Manual, 4-Cylinder Single Overhead Cam. Depends on the weather - in the summer I get 32-33 average (38-40 on the freeway), in the winter I get 29-30 average (35-36 on the freeway).

1998 Honda Civic HX CVT coupe. I get 33-37 miles per US gallon depending on how fast I drive.

The best I've managed to do in my '00 Accord is around 8L/100km. That's with mostly (~75-80%) highway driving in the summer.

I'm afraid to work out what I average in the winter, with 90% city driving in very cold weather. I'd estimate it at 12-13L/100km. Not so great.

Anyone here into maximizing mileage through driving technique?

this guy is pretty extreme
This Guy Can Get 59 MPG in a Plain Old Accord. Beat That, Punk.

But I try to accelerate gradually, never go about 55mph and basically never brake when I drive. It works pretty well. Over the summer I was driving a pick up truck my dad takes to work when his main car isn't working well. He usually gets 14 miles per gallon or less if there's a lot of city driving and over the summer I was averaging 19 miles per gallon in the same car.
