CanJam '08 Logo Contest (Yes there are Prizes)

So you think you can draw? Strut your stuff in the CanJam '08 Logo Contest.

Yup, that's right, we're holding a contest for the best Logo for CanJam '08. Here's how it came about. The organizing committee was sitting around discussing what needed to be done for CanJam '08, and someone said we needed a logo. Yeah, a logo, that would be cool. Besides, HeadFest 2007 had one, and we can't be outdone by last year's model.

Ok, it's decided, then, we'll have a logo. Who's gonna do it? Many moments of silence followed, then some questions.

- "Do it? You mean one of us needs to get off our butt and draw?"

- "What do I look like, some kind of artist?"

- "Don't we have people for this?"

Then it dawned on us - we do have people for this. We have all of Head-Fi, and surely one or two of them must be able to cobble together a logo for CanJam '08. I mean, c'mon, what do they do but sit in front of their computers all day listening to headphones? Surely creating a logo while doing that isn't much of a stretch, is it? Bingo, we'll get them to do it, and we can all continue sitting on our butts dreaming of ways to avoid future work that comes up.

But, aren't they as lazy and useless as we are? Hmmm, that may be a problem. Wait, let's offer prizes. That should get them going. Brilliant! That's what we'll do. Done and done.

Here are the rules and prizes.

* Contest is open to all Head-Fi members.

* Create a logo for CanJam '08.

* Please submit your artwork to canjam08art@yahoo.com in JPEG, GIF, or PNG formats. Feel free to post your entry in this thread as well.

* This years organizing committee will review each of the submissions and submit 6 final entries to be voted on by you the Headfi community. (we know how much everyone loves Polls)

* The artwork that receives the most votes will be used as the main theme with other entries potentially used as well.

* All artwork submitted to CanJam '08 becomes the sole property of CanJam '08. Artwork can be altered or edited at the sole discretion of the CanJam '08 organizing committee.

* Deadline for entries is January 31, 2008. The six finalists will then be chosen by the CanJam '08 organizing committee, and from those the top three will be chosen by the Head-Fi community via a poll.

Prizes: The top three entries will receive these prizes.

* Two nights stay at CanJam '08's venue, Embassy Suites.
* Rockhopper Audio mini m3 portable amp
* Meier Audio HeadSix amp

Prizes to be chosen by the top three submissions as chosen by vote. The first place get first pick, then second place can choose from the remaining two with the third place winner receiving the final prize.

To get the wheels turning, here are two sample entries generously created by BlessingsX, the artist behind the HeadFest 2007 Logo.

So fire up your PhotoShop, Paint, PowerPoint, Keynote or whatever, and get those logos coming.

What's the time limit? Just wondering how long I can put this off...
Also, are multiple entries permitted?

Not sure on time limit but I would do it sooner than later. I believe multiple entries are permitted.

Multiple entries ARE allowed.

No time limit as of now, but one will be set and publicized. With CanJam '08 being May 3-4, 2008, we have a ways to go. Figure on accepting entries at least through the end of January or February, 2008. We will need time after the contest closes to actually put the winning logo(s) to good use in badges, posters, etc.

yes we are going to want to end this probably by the end of January because the organizing committee will need to meet to select the 6 finalists and we will then need to leave time for the community vote. After that we will expect each of you to print and post CanJam08 signs all over your neighborhoods like those obnoxious ipod posters

The logo submission deadline is January 31, 2008. The contest rules in the first post of this thread have been amended to reflect this.

This gives everyone 8 + weeks to dream up and create some spectacular logos for CanJam '08. Then the six finalists will be selected by the organizing comittee to put to the Head-Fi membership to vote the top three. That process will run two weeks. After that, it's publish and post those babies all over the known universe. Let's see if we can outdo those "I buy ugly houses" bills all over the telephone poles.
