Meh, I'd recommend amp with HD595 seeing how some amps can turn it into a different animal.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Headphones ( Ear-bud )

I think this list is now pretty much up to date. If you have any more suggestions, feel free to list them. Fitz, i think i am missing some of the more common AKG's, feel free to chime in.

A few small changes, still looking for a few more additions.

W5000 - Woody headphone which is known for its troublesome fit and being picky about amplification. If used successfully - very worth the trouble.

I'd add this link to every Ultrasone description and would not bother saying anything else: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f4/the...rasone-204879/

What would you recommend me for competitive gaming headphones under $400 without using an amp on a Auzentech X-Fi Prelude?

Click on the link then copy paste the URL. Head-fi automatically formats the links into page titles.

Either DT770 or Proline 2500, it depends on which works better with your ears.

When using an amp, which would be my best choice for gaming (positional sound and clarity), K 701, DT880 '05 or other?
