Headphone Buyer's Guide - Page 14

Hello,
I poke and tease ebay stores into letting me pay off expensive cans at around 50 bucks US a week. It's almost a constant feature of my weekly budget.
This way I can buy cans and it doesn't hurt. And if I need money I can stop buying cans for a month or however long.
I have HD650 and DT990 250 ohm version, oops, and my question is, out of these things, what should I get next?

*Little dot MKIII amp
*Little dot MKIV amp
*AKG K701
*Grado Prestige something or other

My Higain Grado amp is perfectly adequate for both sets of cans that I have.
And I kinda wanna keep buying headphones until I finally get a pair the Grado doesnt run very well and THEN buy my second headphone amp.
But someone just offered me layby on LDIII amp at 50US a week, so I think, hey I could start to set up the tube chain I want and also fill the left side of the shelf.
I hope someone tries to answer: Cans or Component next???
Thankyou,
Undecided, Mandurah.
P.S. Just got the DT990's, how's the detail in 'em? I love listening to the pearl jam song "Go" on them.

I was wondering: Are the headphones in each category listed in a particular order, or just plain randomly?

It's already a hard enough task to compare them in order to find the perfect fit.

Awesome guide thx a bunch for all your hard work.

Are those prices accurate? I cannot find a Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO for anything less than $230 when this guide says they should be $150??

Same goes for the Audio Technica A900... This guide says 200, I can only find $250

I realize some things may vary but I find it hard to believe the DT770 Pro has gone up $100

Or the prices/categories should be updated

The prices listed are an average between retail and eBay prices. That may answer your query.

Are we talking used prices here? Because that shouldn't be factored into the price... it should be new prices... This guide is deceiving. It seems like you have to take your price range class then go down one to get phones that are REALLY in your price range...

It would be good to add Audio-Technica ATH-M50.
$70-150

nice guide. A few more generally agreed-upon comments/descriptions would be nice too, and perhaps a couple links to reviews.

also, the CX-300s are only $20 now.

Some of the stuff I was looking at was actually notably cheaper than the listed prices he gave. I do like this list as a starting place for headphones in different price brackets, my question is, are these all ones the OP recommends, or simply just ones better than walmart specials? I'm looking for a open or closed pair that's nice for heavier rock, and pop music in the $70-150 range that would benefit from a PA2V2 amplifier.
