Headphone Buyer's Guide - Page 2

The super.fi 5 pro and 5EB are missing, but I'm not sure what price category you'd put it in - historically they've been ~$170-190 but lately you can frequently find them for under $150, especially the 5EB.

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Actually they are listed in the 70-150 category. They are the first one on the list.

That's weird, that list was a lot shorter right before I posted this, looked a couple of times and didn't see it. Nevermind.

I was probably editing it when you posted. Any one know what the average price for a grado hf-1 and ps-1 are?

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the HF-1s are about $350?

Sometimes you can get the FX33 for $10 to $15, but you need to look around.

It will be more helpful with some remarks. Anyway, thanks.

Ive started to add a brief description next to each HP, let me know what you think.

I havent heard everything, so if you want me to add one you write, just post it here.

This is a very good initiative. It would help if we could add a short description of the headphones. For example, K701 - Detailed phones with wide sound stage.

Good stuff.

Great work on this, I know it's going to help me

(BTW, could you add the Alessandro MS-1s to the 70-150 range? They're $99 on the alessandro site)

Added the whole Allesandro Line.

Good job, it definitely makes it easier for someone who is buying headphones based on their budget.

2 things I would like to mention: Maybe you could sort each category by price. It just follows better as opposed to no ranking for each category. Or maybe rank each headphone by which one is the best but the problem is the second method is more subjective. I would probably just sort them by price.

Second thing. I'm assuming this prices are based on ebay which you mentioned in one of your replies.

Thanks again. This needs to be stickied.

I think you should add: "amping is must," "amping is recommended," "amping is unnecessary" because people tend to be misdirected. For example, if I want a detailed headphone with a wide soundstage to use from their iPod, people might chose unwisely.
