I get this message: Your configuration is invalid. This is most likely due to a new installation od Rockbox Utility or a changed device path. The configuration dialog will now open to allow you correcting the problem. When I select the right device, or path, I get this message: Could not detect a device. Select your device and Mountpoint manually. And when I do, I get that message repeated. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need to develop some patience.

You both need to learn compassion for your fellow man. Manners and tactfulness wouldn't hurt.

Friendly bunch here... <sarcasm>

Pardon me for being excited at Rockbox features, just to find out I can't tap into them. Frustrating. To me, so far, Rockbox is as useful as a rock in a box.

With all due respect, if you can't even figure out how to search for a free compression program, Rockbox may not end up being your cup of tea. You sound like a perfect candidate for the stock Apple GUI.

Also, saying you need to learn patience is quite tactful given the situation. Let's try the more blunt "read the forum rules and don't bump multiple times per day" approach.

You'd probably have better luck over at the Rockbox site diagnosing installation issues than over here.

Well, most of us are very friendly.
Its just not considered polite to bump the thread tree times in such a short time. Especially not bumping because some did not reply after 8 minutes!

So with all respect I think you need to calm down!
Give people time to reply before you scream "HELP", or try to search and find the answer yourself. Google is your friend...

I repeat.

I guess it's not for me, if I can't even install it. I have installed many other things on my computer, all with success. Rockbox=not so much.

Google Austin 3:16 and you'll get more insite into me.

Why not let your frustration out on the Rockbox developers instead of us?
They are the one to blame for the troublesome installation routines..

Why aren't you on the Rockbox iRC chatroom instead if you want immediate answers?

*confused*

Or at least providing additional information that would help us to troubleshoot your problem.

For example, is your iPod connected to your computer? Is it in disk mode? (See section 2.2 of the instructions in the manual.)

Yes. Yes.

Rockbox is hardly user friendly. Having to download software to be able to download their software is rediculous. I've had to download 7 software packages because of bizarre file paths, and still have yet to be able to get it to work.

You basicly have to have a degree in computer programming to get this crap to work.
OK, whatever. I can assure you that it is NOT necessary to download 7 software packages to install Rockbox. Likewise, I have no idea what you mean by "bizarre file paths" or why these purported "bizarre file paths" are causing difficulty for you. If you would provide information, I could help you, but all you're doing is complaining.

I know how, my computer wont. I'm merely seeking help. If you see that as complaining then please buzz off.
