Which MP3 player would you keep?

My cousin is in need of an MP3 player, and I don't have a need for two portables. I really can't tell a difference SQ wise between the Rio Carbon and the Creative Zen V Plus. Both players are nice, so I could go either way. Which one would you keep and why? Please keep the Creative bashing to a minimum, mkay?

if you can't tell the difference, i'd keep the creative. i'd take flash memory of microHDD any day. i also like color screens

I'd keep the Zen too, only because of the colour screen. Just choose the one which you think looks better.

I would keep the Creative Zen V + as well.
I currently own it, and I am very surprised at how good it sounds.
I purchased the 4GB version for under 50.00 2 months ago.
I was only going to use it as a running dap, but have found it sound fantastic,
as well as having nice feature sets. Was alos using a portable amp with it,
but have since stopped since the output on the ZenV+ is very good.
Also like the DJ playback options.

Voted for the Carbon assuming you'd be willing to throw the Developer's Cut firmware on it. Adds some very Karma-like features to the Carbon.

The little that I've played with the ZenV has left me much less than enthusiastic.

On the other hand, at least Creative still exists for support.

Hmm Rio is better.

Yep, the Developer's Cut firmware is loaded. I could still go either way. This decision will require much meditation.

it is generally agreed that the Rio player is superior sounding to the super-analytical, but if they sound the same to you, i see no reason to keep the carbon, unless you need gapless.

Gapless? You're probably thinking of the Karma, unless the second round of the Developer's Cut firmware added that in for the Carbon.

The Carbon is a great player, and I miss mine already (swapped it for a Creative Zen 8GB today under Best Buy's extended warranty), but the Zen V will last longer, no question.

my mistake, i thought the developers cut added gapless.

I have neither of them,but I prefer ZV+

ZV+! I'm also looking for a small player, Meizu M6SL is at the top of my list.

I would prefer to keep neither of them.
But put at gun-point I would most probably pick the Zen, and get out of there...

I own the V plus 16GB and think it is great. Honestly I don't know much about the Rio Carbon other than hearing it mentioned and seeing pictures.

The V plus can do a lot pretty well, and is a very solid music player.

You are trying to keep the 'better' one for yourself, right?

"None" button is missing in this poll. Consider iRiver clix2 or Teclast T39... or iRiver ifp-F700.
