X3i are nice, ER-6 suck. Good enough?

X3i have bass, ER-6 have none. X3i have a huge soundstage, ER-6 have none. Precision is more or less the same on both. X3i might have a slightly more recessed midrange, but nothing to complain about. Both are rolled-off in the extreme treble regions.

Oops I meant in comparison to UE Metro. I dont know why I typed ER6.

Lol...

I dunno about the UE2 and 3, but I sure prefer the X3i to the 5Pro and 5EB.

You really think the next significant level up from these x3i's is UM2?

Do others agree with this? I'd of thought along the lines of erp4 a significant upgrade... no? Or is that only a minor upgrade?

I'd like to give a try to some of these in the $250-300 range

EDIT: "military spec 26-AWG twisted silver-coated copper wire"? Where on this planet does any military organization use silver-coated wires? I thought only "audiophiles" fell for that.
hehe i dont know what makes it "military spec". it was the name of the item when i bought it on ebay.
i want to find someone who could compare its sound to the original x3i. i "think" this recabled pair is giving me better sound but it could be a placebo effect pwning my ears and brain. i have no way to compare.

i think the next upgrade from here would be the futuresonics atrio series, since it has a similar sound sig

ahh man I know. I've been wanting to try the atrios pretty badly for a while now.
IMO, X3i and Atrios are pretty similar. While the Atrios are a little better in most aspects, they're not that incredibly much better, as to justify paying at least twice the price of the X3i for them.
true. but you do get better quality, isolation, fit and some better sound. it's up to the buyer whether that's worth the nearly 3x more price.

i wonder what cans have similar sound to the x3i and atrio
post #163 of 247
Sure it's up to the buyer... I just put a little caveat here, as the Atrios are not "twice" as good as the X3i, so to speak. Might be useful for some people, putting things a bit in perspective.

As for full-sized cans, I'd say my DT770 could be compared to the X3i in some ways, while the Atrios sound closer to some better Sennheiser HD models.

so i looked on jaben, and it doesn't specify they're x3i...and one question...are they much better than cx300's?
Their site is not up to date. If you order the X3 you will receive the X3i.

Yes, they're very much better than the CX300.
