Ultra-sonic stylus cleaning - comes at a price

I've noticed that these are still being used and recommended. If so, you may care to heed a warning I received from Len Gregory:
The high frequency vibrations eventually destroy the adhesives used to fix diamond tips/shanks to cantilevers.
He told me just after that very thing had happened to me - the shank plus tip took off and were never seen again. Rather ironic that cleaner and (expensive cartridge) were from the same manufacturer.
I've since switched to using a simple brush and a record cleaning machine (the latter's expensive, but no more than a cartridge).

I've been using one of these for 20 years and never had a problem.

I'm wondering since you mentioned Len Gregory - were you using one of his modified Grados?

If you look at dedicated vinyl forums they are highly rated and no longer being made are grabbed whenever the appear for sale.

No - Audio Technica. I think it was an OC-10 (may have that wrong). But thanks for the info on the cleaner - I might yet convert it into something useful
