The January man-3/4-Why aren't there more movies like this?

Panic in Needle Park, 7/10. Depressing though!

I saw a triple pack over the weekend:
Waiting for Guffman: 6.5/10. Humorous, but unspectacular. I don't know why movies that are self-admitted mockeries try to stick to such a uniform plot like a traditional movie.
High Fidelity (first time I've seen it, yeah, I know): 8.5/10. Probably needs nothing said.
Shaun of the Dead: 9/10. One of the better spoofs I've ever seen. And, amazingly, it's actually a well-executed movie, with poignant, thought provoking moments, a very solid soundtrack, and hilarity all the way through.

hot fuzz - 8/10

hilarious.

I'd give Hot Fuzz an 8/10 as well.

But i just finished watching (or rather, half-ignoring) "The Fountain".

2/10. A highly polished turd.

If you love Hot Fuzz (and I did too), this 300 version (from recent Sweded thread) may be up your alley.

I agree. I don't see how it gets such good reviews.

Rescue Dawn - 6.5/10. Probably the worst Bale films I've seen. Wasn't too bad though.

Don't miss the documentary Herzog (same director) did on the same subject about ten years ago - Little Deiter Needs to Fly. I think Rescue Dawn is still quite good, but hearing Deiter describe his own adventures, instead of an actor playing them out, is much more interesting in this case.

And Herzog fans should check out Blanks Burden of Dreams doc of Herzog filming Fitzcarraldo.

Interestingly, when looking up a Little Deiter trailer (couldn't find), I came across this YouTube video of an LA "sniper" shooting Herzog during an interview. Fun in LA!

9.5/10 - awesome acting, awesome special effects, gripping and intense fight scenes. Costumes could possibly have been slightly better, but that's nitpicking.

crossroads. 7/10. Lol at jack butler and the karate kid shredding.

edit: epic post count

The Hoax-2/4-I'm getting more appreciation for Richard Gere.

American Pie: Beta House - 7/10
- Entertaining, but not a potential Oscar winner

Ladder 49 - 8.5/10
- Was a tad long, but it was a very good movie

Hannibal Rising - 0.5/10 Absolute drivel!
