Juno - Excellent for a first screenplay. Well acted, and very funny.

Superbad - 7.5/10 - Seth Rogen aint a bad comedy writer at all. Granted that, you have to come into this movie with low expectations, because it is what it is. But it's good at what it is. It has a good flow to it, and a realistic story line that doesn't attempt to be dynamic or preachy.

'Live free or die hard' - 2/10. Live free or phone it in. Every part of this movie was weak.

Pan's Labyrinth-8/10 A good, solid movie that was very well thought through, acted and executed. I only rated it as low as I did because I had a slightly different expectation of what it would be going into it; I'd definitely recommend it unless watching videos with subtitles is not your thing.

Shawshank Redemption-10/10 After many years of hearing about this movie and spending high school thinking that it was just another movie being overhyped by the movie and literature groups, I finally rented it from the library and watched it. It was everything I was led to expect that it was.

Full Metal Jacket-9/10 Same story as Shawshank Redemption, except for I really did want to see this movie for almost 8 years now and just never got around to it. Finally did, and loved it from start to finish. The only reason I rate it less than 10 is because I felt it lost a little bit of steam after the first half of the film.

Stardust-8/10 I was not expecting to like this movie at all. It looked exactly like the fruity fantasy movies and books my sister is always buying, reading once, and then claiming are the best thing ever. I try them and instantly regret wasting the two hours on the movie or the 4-5 hours on the book that were spent. Anyhow, she finally went out and bought it and I was bored so I sat and watched it with her. It had its weak moments, but for the most part, these weak parts of the story are overshadowed by a lot of the comedic portions. This is definitely a good movie to watch if you want a stable fantasy romp or even if you just want to pass a couple of hours.

AVPR - horrible. . . 1/10, not worth watching even on DVD.

Pye the Dog - 6/10

Predictable storyline and unoriginal characters. The ending felt especially forced, liked they were beating you over the head and telling you feel sad now. But the movie had good actors and a few touching scenes.

...and the same guy is doing the new Death Race movie. We're doomed. DOOMED.

/me dearly loves Death Race 2000

Ultraviolet - 3/10
Meh. Type casted, cool fight scenes, good potential, but I think the director didn't have as clear of a vision as he needed to have to make it work.

When Will I Be Loved - 7/10
Not a movie for everyone, but I really liked it. A bit awkwardly put together at times, but also a strange kind of plot to put together, so I can give some leniency for that.

Pumpkin - 3 to 7/10
I honestly don't know quite what to make of this movie. The Christina Ricci pokies are fan-service-like obvious, it's quite cliche, too easy to follow, sappy, with two dimensional characters...but at the same time, it seems so well thought out, and is so well executed that I don't know if it's not as much an intentional parody of itself as it is an attempt at making its basic story.

Black Snake Moan - 9.5/10
I expected a decent movie, but damn...I want to rate it at 10, but it's not quite as good as others I'd rate at 10. Still, an exceptional film, with Samuel A. Jackson departing from his normal ass kickin' roles, and doing a fine job as a delta blues man. It really makes you feel for characters, even though you really end up not liking most of them (well, I didn't). Even reading and hearing great things about this movie, it beat my expectations by some margin.

Ultraviolet was cut to hell. What you saw was not the directors vision. I don't think the director's cut is available.

I agree, about that cut, though.

I think like the Simpsons Movie, the bender's big score is like a long episode, fortunately with more originality. If you are a big fan it is still worth watching, but time this DVD makes it it seem like Futurama is a beast being chained by TV's restrictions and unleashes with the DVD. There were more vulgarity right off the start. There weren't as much quality intelligent and witty jokes comparing to some of the best Futurama's episodes. But as long as you aren't a hardcore fan and not have a high standard, you'll have some good laugh.

The movie is 88 minutes and everything felt like a rush because they tried to cramp so much things in. I find the plot really predictable and in a way cliche(beside the very end I didn't saw that coming), with time traveling, and the computer's spamming theme. The plot speed up faster and faster near the end and makes it very hard to follow.

I think it is better to wait for this to be shown as episodes on Comedy Central than to buy the DVD. I find the main "antagonists" of the film really disgusting and not fun to watch also

. Overally it is still very fun to watch but you miss nothing if you have seen the 5 seasons. I hope they don't bomb the next 3 DVDs, it's better to let the series die in peace with it's glory, than to have some really crappy Simpons 18th-like season quality.

The Virgin Suicides- Absolutely loved it. Really sweet and hard at the same time. Music is great. Like 9/10

Edward Scissorhands - I laughed my ass of during the first part of the film and it ended rather tragic which I love! Like 9/10 I guess.
(I never rate 10/10 so that's why the 9/10)

Thanks for the review! I think you have made my mind up. I'm a HUGE Futurama fan (right down to the figures and resin model of the Planet Express). It's such a well written and entertaining show with a cool backdrop.

I'll wait for them to air as TV episodes for 2 reasons:

1) I'll get more enjoyment out of them as 4 episodes.
2) I don't want to buy any DVD until the format war is over. I want to buy everything in HD.

So, I'll wait. Not because it may not be a great DVD, but instead because I'll enjoy it more the other way.

Hot Rod. 6/10. I enjoyed it because there were some funny parts and Samberg is great.

But, as expected, it's just a crappy movie overall with some funny parts.

Transformers 7.9/10

Was a CG wonderland and that was enough. It had missiles and stuff!

Also, it starred that perfect little trollop - Megan Fox. That's what the extra 0.9 was for.

the jerk - 9.5/10
