I am Legend - 7/10
I'll be honest with you guys. I really enjoyed this movie up till the last 5-7 minutes. Granted they strayed pretty darn far from the book in almost every aspect, but as a stand alone story it was executed pretty well. It could have been a lot worse in other words. I actually liked Will Smith in this one, and I really enjoyed the way he reacted when Frank decided to leave the video store. In fact the way he interacted with the mannequins was pretty creepy, but in a neat sort of way. Just another way he had of keeping sane. Oh, and the CGI was bad, but I've still seen worse. I'm having a hard time seeing how they could get real people to do the things the infected did. CGI was just one of those necessary evils, though they could have done a better job with it. Oh, and the way they handled the strangulation scene was simply well done. In the end I still can't get over that ending.

I managed to go see the IMAX version mainly with the hopes of seeing the Batman preview, but either they showed it early or not at all. We got there 5 minutes after the start time and the movie was already partway through the Mustang scene, which was also pretty cool. Can anybody confirm whether on not they are still showing the preview at IMAX?
While it's not a thought provoking story like the book was, it was still a pretty entertaining movie. Maybe someday somebody will make a true to the book version, but until then this one will tide me over. And hey, at least they didn't totally butcher this one like they did with The Golden Compass.
