bedazzled (new version) - 7.5/10, hilarious!

"Cave of the Yellow Dog" - 7/10
"Story of the Weeping Camel" - 8/10

Two PG rated German productions for National Geographic filmed in Mongolia (subtitled). While the plot and acting were not strong (actual local inhabitants and famlies), I was really interested in the portrayal of local life, activities, and animals for these subsistence herding famlies. Living in yurts, following their herds between grazing areas these tight famlies and clans have been largely forgotten by time. "Weeping Camel's" resolution of a new mother camels failure to accept her colt is pretty amazing. Beautiful photography of glorious barren landscapes and good soundtracks compliment the action.

Amazon's recommendation service aimed me at them and I found them at my local library.

"White Christmas" [9.0/10]: Great holiday movie, doesn't feel like Christmas if I don't watch it over the holidays...

"Burn After Reading" - 8/10

Count on the Coen Brothers to get me to laugh until I spit up. What a hoot. Clooney is type cast as an aging Treasury philanderer. Brad Pitt has the dimwit gym rat down pat. Everyboy's just great. Plot, acting, recurring themes, timing and pacing; all priceless. I espeically enjoyed The Fugs' "CIA Man" playing during the credits.

That was the Fugs? I did not know that. Catchy tune. I agree, classic Coen Brothers.

I wasn't that smitten but will say the confrontation scene where PItt narrowed his eyes repeatedly in an attempt to appear earnest, was probably the funniest thing I've seen this year.

The Changeling (1980, George C. Scott 7/10) was an effective spooky house thriller.

Yup. I had to wait through the entire credits to find out. Actually, I caught the lyric while I was dialing out of the DVD and had to go back. Wonderful.

The Coen Bros pull some of the best work out of namebrand actors and actresses I've seen. Everybody seems to have a real good time.

Only Fools and Horses - Dates & A Royal Flush
I don't know if you could call them movies but they last more than an hour so...

5/5
The Trotters & Co are one of the few that can still make me laugh, but that's not the only good part of them. Watch them as a kid and still enjoy them. A pure awesomeness.

The Last Samurai - 8/10

I had to get into the 'Tom Cruise' zone, after all I'm going to watch Valkyrie tomorrow [after a loooooong wait].

"It's A Wonderful Life" [10/10]: Absolutely my favorite Christmas movie. I never get tired of seeing it again.

movies directed by todd solondz.

once you get past the sometimes extremely disturbing characters/subject matter, the movies really are quite interesting.
