Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation
8/10

This was an enjoyable watch. Knowing that there will be betrayal and espionage, I was looking for the twists and turns. Some I figured out but one got me. Lots of action, plenty of humor. Gadgets a-plenty. The first mission impossible movie confused the heck out of me, and all subsequent ones feel dumbed down a bit with plenty more action and this one follows suit.

On a similar tone, the series Strike Back involving British intelligence was story-driven first season then straight-forward full of action and sex the subsequent seasons.

Mafia 2. I have just gotten to chapter 8 of 15 but so far it´s an instant classic 10/10.

Touch of Evil - 9/10

Referring to the 1998 restoration, not the studio's compromised 1958 release; the film deals fairly unambiguously with racially motivated abuse of power. If America is represented by the character of Quinlan, it's not hard to see how this kind of film helped to put Welles on the Hollywood blacklist and attracted attention from HUAC.

Politics aside though, the film stands as a classic late-period Noir. As director, Welles gives a visual masterclass and as an actor, he truly inhabits the large frame of the repugnant but strangely fascinating Quinlan, to the point where you can almost smell the fumes coming out of the screen at you. Paranoia stalks every scene, from the desolate border town to the seedy out-of-town motel, the darkness is palpable in every long shadow cast.

Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - 9.25/10

Fury 3/10.

Honestly it should be disqualified. Some super unrealistic battle scenes and what not but the drop.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Main character from the starts suggests he wants to do it all to protect the lifes of his men. Then all of a sudden he decides that they should commit suicide and all the guys think it´s a great idea after a bit of contemplation...

After working so hard to stay alive let us commit suicide instead of wait for reinforcements.

Then last line I did do all to protect you?

Oh, yes you did...

WTF???

Where. Mr experienced tank commander all of a sudden decides that we button up and let ourselves get overrrun, rather than sending a bunch of 76mm tank rounds into a soft skinned column while they are well down the road. That would have stopped them quite literally dead. As it is and apart from the huge and stupid overuse of tracer rounds (dont really need those in a tank, the impact point is usuall quite evident)
The entire finale, and therefore the point of the film was a complete waste of human life and the moviegoers time.
Once again any real Sherman commanders biography would have been a much better treatment of the subject. Hollwhores just have to make it into some Disney Tale.
