I would have to see both films again but I enjoyed The Prestige far more than The Illusionist which I just felt was unspecial and rather bland if beautiful aethetically. I have only seen both flicks once so I would be open to revising that judgement if i saw em again

The Mist- 7.5/10

Thoroughly enjoyed this ode to classic horror/sci-fi! It had that B-movie feel and presentation but accompanied by some great bits of acting, shards of humour and cracking one-liners, a sprinkling of actors/actresses of previous sci-fi/horror roles, a great little commentary on the divisions of thinking and resort to primitive behaviour possible of we humans when the glues of society become null and void, a charcter you will love to detest and, not leastly, a sad, unexpectedly harsh ending for the main character. It followed the stereotypes of its genre(s) the whole way, yet felt unique and different also, defying conventions. Great stuff!

Hancock - 8/10. Wasn't nearly as bad as everyone says it was, and I definitely wasn't anticipating the twist in the middle. I'll definitely be looking out for the Blu-ray/DVD version, to see what was cut out (it was probably too awesome for theaters, lol). Wouldn't mind sequel, to set things straight.

WALL-E - 11/10. Just when I thought that Pixar had reached its peak with Ratatouille, this movie sneaks up and steals the BEST Pixar Movie title. Funny, yet endearing no matter what age, I was in an entire theater full of howling adults and teenagers, and this was in the afternoon!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Remake - C-

I think they got what they were going after, but I just wasn't all that entertained.

Stardust : 9/10

First rate Fantasy/Fairytale. Good for the whole family. It's got it all ... unicorns, pirates, heros, heroines, villains, witches, unicorns, .... with excellent production and an all-star cast. I liked it.

Gong Fu Xiongmao (Kung Fu Panda) - 10/10.

Good mix of family humor and values, good story line/plot, and excellent sound for an animated movie. a must see.

HANCOCK: 5/10

Was disappointed with the plot twist and overall story. They should have made it a DARK super hero story

WANTED 10/10
Perfect pacing, perfect sequencing!

HULK 8/10

"Untraceable" [8.4/10]: Suspenseful story, well written screenplay (that exaggerates what computer criminals and computer cops can do...but what else is new?). Good performance by Diane Lane, but a distinct lack of any real significant supporting performances. The classic psycho-killer wants revenge tale adapted to the online age. Watched it on "On-Demand." Definitely worth the time and money.

Like The Goonies, Amélie or Romancing the Stone?

See King of California. It's from a first time director. It's Terry Gilliam in a straight jacket (in a good way). Micheal Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood are both wonderful. This movies is so much fun.

9.0/10

That is exactly what I thought the very first time I saw the trailer for this movie. Another blown opportunity. This films plot screams for something dark and bleak.

Samgotit, I recommended King of California many pages ago and couldn't agree more. Excellent lighthearted film with terrific performances from Douglas and Wood. IMO, best movie of 2007.

I guess for me the difference was that I didn't appreciate the sci-fi elements of The Prestige. To me, it just didn't gel well.
