Maybe Daggers... it was a very pretty movie though

This one almost slipped by, haven't heard much good press for this film.
An examination in the perils of trying to sustain a high dollar lifestyle through dubious means.
If mostly just to watch the known actors play their parts along the obscure plot points, it could understandably be a film to loathe but I liked it.

I was looking at that the other Day... I wondered how it was

so if it has more than 2 FLYING DRAGON KICKS... them I'm not even going to finish it [the Ip Man movies did a nice job at using VERY little of what I consider to be that Flying Crap, as did Jet Lee's Fearless

I hear ya...there is just a touch of that. Not so much flying kicks, but more like a little more "air" to the strikes than normal at times. It wasn't really that big of a deal, though. I would still encourage a rental if you like this sort of film, just don't expect to be blown away.  Based on the reviews, seems like people generally liked it a bit more than I did.

Interesting too, to have both movies with a long franchise history and style. I just think Super Bad had more a classic feeling and better pace than "This Is The End" I don't know I maybe should have rated them higher as they were mildly entertaining. But both movies slowed down to a very boring pace at times.

MTV has put out a ton with the Jackass franchise and many of em super funny to me, I just thought they were kinda digging around for laughs at times on this one? It has always been the innate charm of the "stunt-actors" and the stunts in Jackass. I just didn't feel the charm with either the kid, or the folks they tricked. I think it's hard to do a movie like Jackass even though it looks easy.

As far as success, these movies made bank! This Is The End made something like 124 million so far. Bad Grandpa 142 million so far.

The cinematography of Hero alone is worth the admission !

Agreed, Hero is a *gorgeous* film. Indeed, all of Zhang Yimou's films are beautiful--even the bad ones, like The Flowers of War.

You guys should watch The Grandmaster directed by Wong Kar Wai.  It has Ip Man and more.  It's more than martial arts, it goes beyond.

I hear ya...I've just always been addicted to practical joke type humor. Candid Camera (when I was a kid), Punked, Impractical Jokers (the funniest show on TV, in my opinion), prank calls, etc, etc. I've laughed so hard at movies like Borat, the Jackass movies, and now Bad Grandpa. It's cheap laughs for sure, I totally agree, but it's a type of humor that I've always loved...so I'm an easy mark :)

The film earned a box office of $142 million on a budget of $15 million. One movie that shows you don't need $39 million to make a blockbuster. I think all the Jackass movies were cheap to make?

Red 2 has made $142 million also but cost $84 million to make.

Charlie Countryman 2013    10/10

The best photographed movie I have seen in years. Amazing that Shia LaBeouf actually took acid for the drug sections in the movie.

Yes, and the character won make-up awards. Maybe they will throw in a Badgrandpa girl-friend. Truly the plot has unlimited potential.

Sht, the kid was a good actor. But you could do anything with that story, put in a trained dog, a hot grampa trophy wife. The theme does lend itself to endlessly funny public scenarios. He could travel in an RV across America.

It was never as good as Borat(ever) but had a chance to be, that's why I rated it so low. It made $142 million, so what do I know?

Borat coast em $18 million to make and grossed $261 million.
