Love her sense of fashion.

The Big Wedding (2013): 2/10

Got roped into watching this on Thanksgiving. Avoid at all costs!

Red 2 (2013): 4/10

Another one I got roped into on Thanksgiving. Painfully amateurish directing and just shockingly dull. I wasn't a fan of the first movie either, but it possessed considerably more charm than this dud did. Hopefully there is no Red 3 to look forward to.

Dallas Buyers Club (2013): 9/10

Catching this in theatres made up for the above two abominations and then some--if there is any justice in this world, both McConaughey and Jared Leto will get some Academy attention for their work here. One of the best movies I've seen in theatres yet this year!

Just finished the third film of the trilogy...what a great ride this was from start to finish. I'm really glad Netflix carried the extended versions, cause it feels like you really get deep into the story. I can't recommend these 9 hours of entertainment highly enough.

"The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Next" - 8.7/10

Overall Trilogy: 8.8/10

Netflix was suggesting this one to me and I couldn't resist given the cast. I have to say, it's not a strong film at all...but at the same time, seeing Travolta and DeNiro together was almost like "must-see" viewing. If two lesser actors were in the roles, I may have even turned it off...but with these guys going at it I have to say that I enjoyed it.

"Killing Season" - 6.5/10

Dallas Buyers Club - 6/10

Trying to wrap my brain around this movie. The main character is a complete a**hole 90% of the time (Ok with me). There were very few likable characters in the movie. After the movie I was kind of angry. The movie is almost insulting and just stupid at times. I don't even know what they were trying to say with this movie. The pacing of the movie was just so bad. It kept going on and on and on and didn't know when to end. The only thing it had going for it was the acting. The acting of the character "Rayon" was actually as good as that of Ron Woodruff. I think the movie fell apart halfway in and I lost interest in his story.

This is definitely one of those where I feel kind of bad giving it such a low score, but what can I say..

As far as acting goes, my vote for best actor of the year is Chiwetel Ejiofor from "12 Years a Slave". Next is Tom Hanks.

Matthew's acting in this was very good though and oscar worthy.

I think the Matthew did his job well here (going by your experience). Going by the synopsis the character is an a**hole. That deserves a 6 as it is.

He's particularly good in roles without any clear protagonist/antagonist boundary.

On the fence of watching "Dallas Buyer's Club"

From the still shots and preview flicks, McConaughey's physical transformation doesn't compare to that of Bale in "The Machinist"

Well, there's a difference between 'diseased' and 'starving to death'.

However, the "disease" eventually leads to starvation.

Anyhow, I've read about the Oscar worthy performance of McConaughey.  I just don't see that happening.  I put him in the same bucket as Tom Cruise.

Same bucket as Tom Cruise?

What has Tom Cruise done to deserve so much respect?

Doesn't have anything to do with respect.  IMO, there's not a role, story, or director that can make either one Oscar (what the hell does that really mean anyways?) worthy.
