I was blown away by both the special effects and the over all improvement in audio.  Serious depth and dimension to each and every scene.  The original animatronics and CGI were pretty good in there day, but this version dials it up another notch.

I always found the kids annoying when I first watched this movie and I can't say I feel any different about them now.  Who cares! the film is Spielberg in monster mode.  The dinosaurs have personalities that I never appreciated the first or second time I saw this film.  Even if you know what's coming the use of cinematography and sound just kept me jumping. Michael Crichton cowrote the screenplay so it stays fairly true to his original novel.  Even with no added or deleted footage this film is just better in 3D.  Highly recommended.

DVD 8.8/10  Blu-Ray 3D 9.6/10

How much better are we talking? I do not own a 3D tv... will I enjoy the extra CGI epicness from the DvD alone? And honestly... it's a great movie. Heck I've got the OST on my hm801. It's already a 9/10 in my book without the awesome Cgi Retouch!

Really? Maybe I need to see it again, but I didn't find it nearly as good as Shaun Of The Dead. Still waiting to see World's End.

Thor: The Dark World 7/10

Started a bit slow, but ended well.

Shaun of the dead has a lot of references from older movies, so if you've watched them it much more enjoyable, otherwise not so much.

I think the CGI upgrade would make the Blu-Ray worth it.  For sound the Blu-Ray is better than the DVD, although I should qualify by saying my Blu-Ray player and speakers are better now than when I rented the DVD.

The 3D is on the level with "Life Of Pi."

2 Guns (2013)

Easily 8.5/10

It was hilarious as well as having pretty good action.

Highly recommended!

Blue Is the Warmest Color ( France, 2013) 9/10

Palme d'Or ( Cannes Festival) winner

I had worries during the beginning of the film that it would have strong social and political context about lesbian love. To my relief there wasn't. Actually the film seemed to me to be pretty poor in this regard ( which is a good thing) as the story turned out to be simple and on the surface ( it's just a love story of two very different women). What is outstanding is how director Abdel Kechiche portrayed sensuality and passion of his main character Adele to the extremes of frankness including here long naturalistic sex scenes. Actress Adele Exarchpoulos's performance is enough reason to watch the film.

Around this time last year all the hype was about Skyfall.
It popped up on the Netflix banner tonight and I must say, it shows really well at home, only a half hour in and really enjoying all the nuances from close range.
Can someone tell me how long has this been up on Netflix?

Dead in Tombstone (2013) 5.6/10

Don't ask me why, I just did.
A rolling gun battle, action/horror with Mickey Rourke playing Lucifer in Hell.
Great movie for mid teen guys with Doritos and energy drinks...

Thor 2:  5/10-- average

Normally I don't have high expectations for Marvel stories and directing in the first place, so I tend not to hold it against them.  This movie is that bad though.  Halfway in between a Captain America and Fantastic Four in terms of suckiness-- maybe more in the Fantastic Four realm.

Grown Ups 2 (2013):

8/10

Really funny movie, had a good time watching it. I love Adam Sandler and Chris Rocks' movies. The story is kinda cheesy though.

Recommended.

Oh yea

9/10...

I super duper liked it, wish REALLY wish I had seen it in theaters

Also Elle Fanning... THAT is the annoying Fanning from like FOREVER ago... oh my goodness... ALL THOSE RUINED DUBS.,, are forgiven! I hope from the bottom of my heart... that girls stays as FAR away from drugs an alchol as humanly possible! Needless to say she's a pretty gal :O, but I think of the Late Lindsey Lohan... so cute when she was younger, than gorgeous as an adult... and then BAM DRUGS AND ALCHOL and no she's hideous... Hollywood does not need another repeat of that

Going back to the movie [besides me forgetting I'n 5 MEASLY years older than the Fanning sister] anyways... yea I liked it. Nice scifi action going on, it spooked me a few times! Got a couple of good jumps out of me, it has the same "horror and supense" as the Metroid Series! Just enough to allow me to sleep at night! But a good movie, I liked it! The ending IMO sucked, SCARY alien turns friendly... made for a lame ending... BOO so well un eventfull! Would have been nice to see the Air Force just torch the entire city, and in the BLAZING FLAMES we get a glimpse of what we HOPE is the alien escaping! I dunno just having him all friendly at the end was meh imo

Still I liked her, I mean it... the movie! Yea... a Fanning... what a shock... oh crap and that means I've got to eat... oh gawd... that thing must be... like 7 years old by now... ewwwww... shame on me for making those stupid child hood bets... well guys I'm off to eat a smelly old... I'll spare you the details...
