End of Watch (2012) 7.5/10

An easy to watch modern day police drama, that provides a decent thrill ride.
Set in L.A.'s gritty Southland, cop work is portrayed with a clever narrative twist.
Well done.

I definitely do not consider Skyfall the best Bond film of all time. It's top 10 for me, but probably somewhere between 6-10. Casino Royale on the other hand IS my favorite Bond film of all time. I'm also now decided that D.Craig has taken over from Sir Roger Moore as my favorite actor in the role.

I would have to go with Sean Connery on that one. I find that interesting. Out of the 3 craig movies I would have to say I liked this one the most. I felt it's repeated references to the old-skool bond films added something to the film. Especially at the Dome in LA where you have the entire crowd reacting to every little suggested or implied reference..

Sean Connery was easily the most charismatic, I think, so I can understand that choice for sure.

My rankings would be as follows:

1) Craig

2) Moore

3) Connery

4) Dalton

5) Lazenby

6) Brosnan

I guess its a more down to earth Bond, the one that's not a fantasy character.

Really? He chases people on rooftops on a motorcycle, fights on the tops of trains and blows up helicopters using gas canisters!

This is really down to earth. I did all this yesterday actually!

They should have him team up with Rambo in the next movie.

Now that I think of it, did Bond even have a scratch on him after the movie? I don't think so. I think he got cold though by falling into freezing water. Several times.

I can't understand how anyone can think the movie is original. Even remotely. It's basically a rip-off of every other movie out there. Maybe I watch too many movies.

Excision - Storyline is ok and unique but it will drag you out till the end.

Savages - The setting is vivid and inviting however its a 2-hour movie with nothing but drugs and drugs, and the two endings were for me, after thought :D

Red State - 8.5/10

Really enjoyed it. Been wanting to see this since release. Thought the deaths of the 'innocent' were super brutal.

Compared to other bond movies, the action is pretty simplified. No gadgets, it seems more out of a Bourne movie than Bond.

Pierce Bronsmen has an invisible car and an explosion chases him down a mountain.

Exactly. I think it doesn't meet the "fantasize" criteria well. You wouldn't want to be a spy who's alcoholic and has a dark past.

I guess some can relate to that. Hence the polarizing reviews.
