Saw the movie last night. BY FAR the best out of the three. The whole anniversary thing i think sparked them to have a LOT more references to the legacy movies. Made it so much enjoyable to pay homage to the OG James Bonds. I'd give it a 9 of 10 for sure.

It's a shame, but I just can't watch Bond films... He reminds me too much of myself.

Plan to see Skyfall this week.  My question to see it in IMAX or not?   I know it was converted to IMAX and not filmed in IMAX.  I've seen some positive reviews on the converted film to IMAX but unsure whether it would be worth the extra $.

I personally love IMAX, if for no other reason than the sound. Its 50,000 watts of glorious surround and massive bass. I usually will pass on 3D, but if it's showing on IMAX I will typically go that route. I usually just stare in awe at the massive screen when I first walk in....it's pretty unbelievable.

Thanks for the reply I've researched some more and you get 26% more film screen on the IMAX conversion of Skyfall and given better sound it seems worth the extra cost.

The Raven, 6/10

From the writing and direction on down, this was pretty second-rate. The finish was okay or I would have given it a worse rating. Cusack did admirably here but honestly, I expected better.

Yeah, it doesn't fill the entire IMAX screen when it's not filmed in IMAX, but still, that's a nice gain. Is your IMAX newer? The one near me in Buford, GA (north of Atlanta) is just unreal. The damn thing has got to be like 7 stories tall. It's frickin huge. I saw Hannibal, Batman Begins, Star Trek, and SW Episode III on it...each time it was just great - especially Star Wars. Please let us know how it is if you go...Sunday can't get here fast enough for me...this is going to be a great show.

We have an IMAX now, part of a new cinemaplex. I've decided the very top/back row is the best place to take it all in.

that's how I roll, too. I love top row of IMAX....it's totally different than top row of a regular theater.

I booked for UltraAVX,tomorrow 1:10pm showing at the local Cineplex.
Mainly, because I've never tried it.Here is the promo:
Reserved Seating
Giant Wall-To-Wall Screen
- The biggest we could fit!
Crystal Clear Digital Projection
Immersive Sound System
- Hear every detail
Larger Rocker Seats
- The ultimate in comfort

If you read IMAX vs. UltraAVX, it seems like a close call.
From one online snippet:
Is UltraAVX screen size and image quality better than IMAX?
In terms of image quality, the UltraAVX image is vivid, crisp and detailed, down to the last fine line and crow's foot. IMAX does have a leg up on image, but just by a bit. Screen size? UltraAVX is as wide as an IMAX screen, just not quite as tall, though much bigger than what you'd find in a regular theatre. For perspective, consider that there were a couple of scenes where the apes were leaping towards the screen and it felt as though they were leaping into the audience.

What about sound?
It's a close tie. Both have excellent sound systems, better than in a regular theatre, with IMAX sounding marginally clearer than UltraAVX. But UltraAVX seemed louder with respect to bass, with rumbling you can feel through your seat, depending on the scene. Definitely the kind of sound system you'd want for an action movie.

So, is UltraAVX comfier than an IMAX Theatre? Is It Worth the Ticket Price?
From my point of view, it's a big YES.

Better seats and space configuration tip the scale,I'll find out soon.

Wow, that is very cool....that's my ONLY complaint about IMAX is that the seats aren't made for a big guy like me....those "larger rocker seats" sound perfect. Can't wait to hear back about your experience!

Watched Skyfall.

8/10

The best bond movie according to me. Takes a realistic look at the spy. Funny thing is, even though there isn't a lot of action, I didn't feel the time passing by... its 2h25m long.

Some part of it is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (which is a 9/10 btw, probably the most real spy movie around).
