Kubrick is one of my favorite director's of all time (possibly #1) but I'll admit Lolita wasn't his best work...but it's still very good. I'd say 8.5/10 for me.

Bernie

"charming"   8 out of 10

Forgot to rate this one earlier. Saw it in theaters.

Premium Rush - 5/10

A hipster action movie. A decently enjoyable film, but generally lackluster and underwhelming. I enjoyed Joseph Gordon-Levitt's performance.

Inside Man- 5/10

i watched it because of the good ratings but at times, it was confusing (eg. the interrogations throughout the movie, which took place after the theft), and mumbling made it hard to understand

Shame- 8.5/10

this is the movie to watch if you want to see some "real" acting biggrin.gif

Winnie the Pooh (2012) - 8/10

Hilarious, charming, good-natured, and concise. Wonderful characters in Piglet and Eeyore. Interesting storytelling technique with the animated/interactive picture book idea.

Battleship 9/10...

I am sure it´s something wrong with me but it was just so fun. It´s what Transformers ought to be pretty much.

Silly concept but must be that ILM drug I was taking during the movie that did it.

That ILM drug is something seriously good, if you rate it 9/10! lol

I don´t know what it´s. Everybody I know think it´s awful. And it has all the ingredients for being awful. But no pure leave the brain at home entertainment. Maybe it was the ACDC in the soundtrack ;)

I hate to admit it, but I loved it LOL. I just saw it on Tuesday and it will rank up there with ID4 as one of my favorite alien popcorn flicks.

Agreed. Really liked this one.

Hit & Miss (mini-series) 7/10

Pre-op transsexual assassin finds out he has a son and a family. Not particularly believable, most of the characters of despicable, but it's still a compelling watch.

Do they hack the alien mothership too? If so it's a guaranteed viewing for me.

I love ID4. I've seen it about several dozen times and it's one of the dumbest movies ever made, but entertaining as hell. Like all the characters too.

I feel sorry for anyone that could actually take the movie too seriously.

Exactly, taking a film like this one or ID4 seriously is a complete waste of time....sometimes you just want to sit back and watch stuff blow up, see the hero get the pretty girl, and maybe some cool aliens....why people want to "high-brow" these types of films is beyond me. I'm a bit biased since Peter Berg made one of my favorite football films ever, and I tend to like his stuff in general, but I think anyone who can geek out to a popcorn flick should give this one a chance. I just had a lot of fun with it, personally :)

Anyway, looks like I've got another Blu-ray to buy

Hmm...Takashi Miike remake...

Isoroku - 9/10; the best film I've seen about Pearl Harbor and Midway.  None of the Hollywood productions in the past 60 years matches up.

I hate your post. J/k Now i'm going to have to go out and spend more money biggrin.gif

I'm sure you know this, but "Samsara" is a sequel of sorts to "Baraka". Obviously it probably says that in the trailer. "Baraka" is one of the best documentaries ever made.

Can I make a suggestion? Before you watch that, watch the Pan Nalin movie "Samsara". It's a buddhist themed movie starring Shawn Ku and Christy Chung (HK actress).

It's in my top 10. The directors other movies are way over my head. I can't make any sense of "Valley of Flowers". Do you know who Cyril Morin is? He made all the soundtracks.

Here's the low quality trailer (NSFW):

The idea of a Harakiri remake makes me sick. Doesn't need one. Hope he doesn't ruin it and turn it into another bloodbath.

Hopefully you've seen "Twilight Samurai". It's so good it holds up to all the old B&W Samurai films. That's one of my favorite genres.

Yoji Yamada directed "The Hidden Blade" after that and I hated it. "Love and Honor" is much better and got a US release.

It makes me sick how hard it is to watch some lesser known Japanese films. Most of the time they don't even have english subtitles.

Then when I buy them from Amazon JP they cost like $45 each.

I wonder where I can watch this Isoroku legally on DVD or on blu-ray. Need to google it.

Have you seen the Japanese film "Yamato"? Ugh..such a terrible movie. Way too overdramatic. There was another newer WWII movie from Japan due out, but I forget the name..

It's was about the Kamikaze pilots. Released last year and not sure if it's any good. Supposed to get a US release soon.

"Tora Tora Tora" is OK, but that's about it. I'm not too picky as long as I learn something.

EDIT: Looks like the Isoroku Yamamoto is getting a Sept 24th Blu-Ray release in the UK. It's about $19USD. Not 100% sure if it's compatible with my player, but many of the UK releases are.

The UK release of "Assembly" (good Chinese war movie) works here and is dirt cheap! Blu-rays are cheap in the UK than the USA! What the heck. No fair! normal_smile%20.gif Oh yeah the Yamamoto movie is called "The Admiral" there. lame.
