I am looking for something better than the RadioShack el-cheapo 6' mini to mini cable (42-2387) that I have connecting my computer soundcard and other sources to my amp. I am thinking of either the RadioShack 42-2607 or maybe going the DIY route. I only want to spend around $20 to $25 max. Would the gold RadioShack cable I mentioned give me any better sound or should I just build my own?

for cheap, you could make a mini-mini using homegrown audio's cable and switchcraft right angle mini plugs. Do a search here for "homegrown".
Also, do a search for "zu mini", I believe the price is close to what you are looking to spend for a 1 ft cable, and the quality looks very good.

I forgot to mention that I still need 6' of audio cable. Thanks for the suggestions, but those look like they would be too expensive for the length I am needing.

screwdriver, didn't see your thread until after I posted. I was able to find some mono mini-to-mini cables on MarkerTek's site, but that was about it.
I have read a bit about using ethernet cable for this purpose. If I were to use 3 of the 4 twisted pairs would it be any bit of an improvement over the cheapie cable I have now?

there is a balanced stereo , 3.5 mini male to 3.5 mini male connector at markertek - 6 feet for $16.85 (item # SC6MZMZ).
this is different from the mono you mentioned.( which has a item #SC6MM).
ive heard these are really good cables for the money.

The markertek is a solid, well built, good sounding cable. I have the 1 foot length.

I think the guy said that while it does make good, cheap hookup wire for inside an amp, as wire goes, its capacitance was pretty high, and so you should avoid using it in large lengths.

Just curious - does the markertek cable require any burn in? I just got it today and so far I really can't a whole lot of difference between it and the cheapie mini-mini I was using before.
