Roxbox is frozen on 5.5g ipod. How do I reset the player?

Rockbox hung up. It does not respod to any commands (it is on).
The screen dims; if I touch the scrollwheel it lights back up. But other than that, completely dead.

Normally I would pull the battery... but you know :P

And yes, I did try shutting it down. Will I have to wait until it runs out of juice? This will take a week without music playing

Holding the centre button + top menu button resets it, i think.

x2 - indeed it does.

You need to hold those buttons down for 5-10 seconds, so don't give up too soon.

Thank you guys. I did try that, but not for 5-10 seconds. Lesson learned.

The rockbox just shut itself off a few mins ago, so all back to normal

Man this forum is great. My 5.5 locked up on "do not disconnect" screen.
Just now stumbled into this thread and found out how to reset my ipod. Life is once again sweet.

Why does rockbox always freeze on my 5.5g 80gb Imod?

It often happen all the time, but not on my nano 1g 1gb.

You can try a little bit older or newer built, most of my rockbox problems have solved with that.

on my 5th gen video ipod I am carefull of ALWAYS doing a >settings>... database> Update anytime I connect to pc or load new music.

I bricked it once when not carefull and had to wait for the battery to drain itself.

It happened to me a couple of times, so I've "de-rockboxed" it until the mood finds me again.

yes that's correct

Later builds have been pretty stable for me. The only thing that happens now is sometimes sliding the hold button on would pause play until I took it off hold.

There was a brief period of versions where it would just refuse to turn on and you had to basically reset it to start it up but that was a while back.
