i never had any problem shipping abroad but recently, i have one. i sold some cds off ebay and the buyer claims that he didnt receive the cds. he proceeded with paypal claim and i guess i just have to refund him the money.

-this guy only contacts thru paypal claim center, not me.
-it wasnt EMS so no tracking is available.

but again, maybe he really didnt get the cds...

so now, for international shipments, im going to go with EMS or nothing..

You just never know who's on the other end. A fellow overseas who complained of paypal hassles, finally send me CASH via registered letter from Singapore. It was a gutsy thing to do, but hats off! It's like life in general, you wins a few, and you loses a few...

I don't blame you!
One bad experience and its normal to reconsider if you will do different the next time. Loosing money is no fun, even if its only ~$50 (or something)

ouch, that's why I actually look at the feedback of the buyer too, there is always the possibility of a reverse scam although like you said they maybe telling the truth. Do you have a receipt that proves you shipped it? It is on the buyer to get a service with tracking/insurance not on you I would actually not refund him as long as you have proof you sent it with the method the buyer wanted.
