Nah, recabled D2000 is better!

Awesome mod markl. May have to try it out.

Sounds like fun. Ok, not really. Perhaps someone will invent an aftermarket earpad for the D5000.

Cool experimentation!

Damn...now, I want to get a D2000 or D5000 and try this mod plus balance it

I am flabergasted that $700+ headphones have such a outpoint in them, and that you need to use such "basic" measures to adress the problem!

Not all of us feel they have those problems.

I certainly don't discount Markl's opinion.. he has tons of experience with headphones and I look forward to his reviews.
But I love the D5000 the way they are. I wouldn't want to lessen the amount of bass one iota.

Wow! That's quite a statement (for the record, I've never heard the R10 nor the Denon). Rrresist.

I have an IC up for my R10s. I will need a week to do more comparisons as this is a big step for me.

Markl,

My D5000 is in the operating room, ready for the enhancements...

Do you recommend any particular type of sponge or HD foam for this particular mod ?

I'm excited.

Do you find the modded D5000 to be as good, better, or worse than the R10?
Wow, Markl. Quite a bold statement. Makes me quite happy to know that I have the best headphones on the market. sans modding, of course. I like the bass response. Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll prefer less of it. I just wish there was a way you could improve the soundstage without affecting the bass.

I would say that's a pretty easy question to answer if he's selling his R10. But you never know. Different strokes for different folks.

Markl, for a second I thought hell was freezing over!!! Then I looked outside, saw the smoke from the fires (I live in San Diego) and realized it was the other way around

Thank you for posting this mod. Mine should go under the knife this weekend. PM sent.

Regards,

Aaron
