Bread-Fi

I love bread and I am sure there are many of you who do also. Breakfast, it is nice to have either beans and butter on a nicd piece of toast or caviar, cheese and tomatoes or onions etc. Cottage cheese works on brown breads of all types.

Right now, I am in the land where bread means white and thick and pre-cut. I cannot enjoy it. Sometimes, there are some nice ideas like egg and cheese in the bread or rice balls inside, but bread is basically, white and sweet. You cannot have it for more than a snack without feeling bloated.

I would like to hear other bread-fiers speak out. How do you like your bread? Are you a morning bread person, a midday bread person or a night bread person? Perhaps, you are even an all day bread person.

Even if you consider white bread bread as I do not, please do not hesitate to mention that you love it with jam or something equally terrible. I along with the other bread-fiers am waiting.

Let's have a nice warm conversation about one of the most graceful meals ever invented: bread.

Mid-Day or so... Hack off a nice piece of a Baguette, slice a tomato and then a single layer of tomatoes on top of the bread with whatever cheese I'm feeling like that day (usually a good aged swiss), some basil and a little vegetable oil. Drop that in the oven and let it heat till the bread hints at crispiness and the cheese is starting to melt. Makes a great lunch, especially with a tall, cold glass of cranberry juice or white grape juice on the side.

appophylite, that sounds delicious!

Bread rules. Especially wheat and pumpernickel, and a good bit of butter.

We went through our bread phase. Lasted almost 20 years. From bread machine to scratch, back to the machine. Now we do tortilla wraps. A Mexican sandwich, yummy. And easy.

White bread with PB & J anytime of the day or with cinnamon and butter as cinnamon toast in the mornings.

Portuguese, Hawaiian, or Samoan sweet bread straight out of the pan plain anytime of the day.

i love bread of all kinds, as long as it's whole wheat and shaped like a bagel.

I like the Hong-Kong bakery style bread that's saturated with milk and egg. Wonder bread, foccacia, baguette anything but Bavarian.

Really? I really like the bread in Japan. But now that I think about it, there aren't too many whole grain, country style breads for sale. Those bread stores are delicious though, with their unique concoctions.
