My Ultimate Portable setup: UE11, iMOD V-Cap, TTVJ Millett!, Microbag! - Page 2

very nice setup! i also have experience the vcap (courtesy of EFN) and knows exactly what you're talking about. it makes the music alive like never before! couple questions though:

1. how does the UE-11 sound compared to the UE-10? (sorry if you've already posted impressions elsewhere)

2. how does the TTVJ millet hybrid amp sound compared to other amps?

all in all i think you have one hell of a setup! it's very hard to beat (except for maybe an optical setup?)

How many pounds is that? I cant fathom carrying that around everytime I want to listen to music.

Hehehe yes it has been answered in other threads. 

UE-10 sounds stale, boring, uninvolving, 2 Dimensional compared to UE-11. UE-11 is very exciting, very powerful sounding, BIG SOUNDSTAGE, Amazing texture. REALLY MUSICAL!

If you are familiar with tube sounds and really craving for tube sounds then yes TTVJ Millett is the one! Tube is more vocal oriented, airy, smooth, liquid, slow-paced, laidback, relaxing, the bass goes very deep but soft not hard hitting, very musical and articulate.

Other SS amps is very accurate, precise, dynamic, superb clarity, clean-clean, texture, hard hitting bass, FAST.

So I don’t think you can compare TTVJ Millett with other amps since It’s a different amp with completely different character.

Uhm, it’s not so bad in terms of weight IMO. V-cap is very light you know. It’s only capacitors. TTVJ Millett is like any regular portable amp. And iMOD is just like an iPOD.

Very nice gear.

Not so ergonomic for on-the-go use though, as the connectors don't allow it to be used with the case zippered closed.

Reminded me of my now sold rig. Sweet one you have there. Oh how I missed mine....

Very nice rig indeed! Enjoy it.

Nice rig. I'm actually looking at trying a v-cap portable myself. I spend most of my listening time on my commute, and at the office so I want the best sound possible. I never seem to have time to listen to my home setup!

If I ever finish selling these triple.fi, I'll place my order for the UE11 and have something close to this setup. I usually end up ditching the vCap dock and going with the super cotton for on the go lately. That way I can just clip on the iMod and go if I'm not carrying a book bag or anything.

I have to agree with jlingo on the vcap dock. I just switched from a 4G iMod to a 5.5G iMod with V-Cap dock, and the change is very noticeable. It took about 30 hours for the sound to stop being fuzzy/out of focus. Once I let it burn in for that long, it tightened up and the sound has really wowed me.

5.5 iMod with V-Cap is very, very musical. Put a smile on my face. The thing just has PRAT, emotion, man it's great. The other thing I notice is bigger soundstage. It's really 3 dimensional. Sounds go way, way out to the sides, and at times I have an "echo-ey" feeling that is hard to describe...it's like the sound equivalent of a 3D movie, where I sort of get audio vertigo. Compared to 4G iMod, the 5.5G/VCap is a fuller, meatier (wetter?) sound. It has that fullness but still keeps the uber-details. But the musicalness is worth the price of admission. Really, really impressive, I couldn't be happier.

jlingo,
I see in your signature that you use ALO SuperCotton from the iMod to the V-Cap. But that is not the cable in the picture, is it?

I have both the vCap and the super cotton dock, but I'm trying to sell the super cotton now because the vCap dock is my preference.
