Sure, dual-triodes can test 100% ok, but the level of "okayness" can still vary between the two triodes. That said, Todd, as I mentioned, I don't think having the two triodes match exactly is all that meaningful.

Then again, since I have a tube tester, I have the piece of mind of testing this for myself.

I would agree that EXACT matching is prob nit needed bit I would like them to be within 5% or so.

How much is a tube tester and what do you recommend?

It may be worth having for Tube Rolling?

Is it hard to test the dual triodes? or time consuming?

If the system become to warm I do not like it at all. I need more space between the instruments and better clarity in the sound.
So thats why I just bought a DH Labs BL-1 Series 2 with CARDAS connectors cable from Drew on Audiogon and very exciting about the result. Do not have them yet, but maybe next week or so. This cable isn't that expensive as well.
I wouldn't spend a lot of money for such things, just use what you have and try some decent and good quality TUBES and RCA's to hear the result. Just play with your beautiful toy and he will come to life, for sure. I am very interested in Raptor as well, but the money are funny, they are singing but not from out of my wallet.

IMO there is no more neutral Cable I have found.

Were did you find pricing on them?

I was fortunate to pick up a 1meter second hand. I which I had a 3M so I could seperate the componets to a stand!

Well, don't be please. I was asking sacd lover about RAYTHEON and HYTRON tubes, cos he said they would be better than Sylvania Gold pin.

I have to disagree that the Raptor is "lean" in any way!

It certainly earns it's name in my book! Quite a little terror with tons-o-power and quite warm but with great details and punch!

I have rolled umpteen 12AU7 variants - nothing exotic but tubes in the $50 mark and nothing beats these gems. The best kept audio secret IMHO (no longer ) ..dB

I doubt it. The 8416 is a 12V version of the 6DJ8/6922. It's not a 12AU7.
