WTB: marantz cd5001!

looking for a marantz cd5001 preferably the black model. if you have a used one your willing to sell, or know of someone who does. please lemme know!

I know it's out of your budget but you really should think long and hard about the transport that thrice is selling. Buying a cheap player or transport really is just a waste of money if you're going to pair it with something as great as the beta22.

Maybe an Oppo. I love mine stock and you can have it modded at some point if you like it and see potential for improvement. Depending on your set-up can be a good DVD player as well - mine lives in my home theatre and sees too little pure audio time....

The Marantz CD5001 seems to get a lot of praise......used units have been seen for $175 on A'gon.......and the US model is black.

While I've not heard it, I have heard other Marantz players, and to me their "house sound" does lean to the warmer/sweeter side rather than neutral/analytical. The CD5001 might be a nice counterpoint to a Benchmark-based system for some older (or just bad) recordings whose flaws make listening on a highly resolving system less than enjoyable.
