AT is in a class of their own as far as aesthetics go in the headphone world. I've never seen so many attractive designs.

Would you be able to rank them with the Audio-Technica family ? Are they competent to ATH-W1000 ?

Sorry. I have had the EW9 for a while but I found them uncomfortable or bad sounding. They were OK comfort wise but then the sound suffered and in the position with the perfect sound they hurt my ear. But even in the well-sounding position I felt like they are no more but a nice "toy" for someone who already has anything else.

Compared to the ES7 I remember the ESW9 to be much more bass heavy. I liked the ES7 but I didn't really like the prototype, to sharp in the highs und to little mids (even for an audio-technica, which I normally like) and way to much bass for my taste. And I remember that the ES7 isolated much more while the ESW9 is much more comfortable (lamb skin earpads). BVut my impressions were made in loud trade show environment, I had to listen with levels I wouldn't normally adjust...
But to be honest I wasn't really interested in either of both because I found the ANC 7 to be sounding sooo sweet...I spent a lot of time with that.

But I agree: they look terrific.

I think the bass is strong but not overwhelming like ES7 and it's more articulate. this is good thing IMO.

Yes, that is SR-71 as tk3 said so. The setup in the picture is iMod5.5G/Cryo X Silver dock/SR71.

I tried it with MOVE first but efficiency of ESW9 is somewhat lower for the class. My MOVE is set at low gain mode for IEM so hard to get adequate level of volume. With that said, I use SR71.

I forgot to mention, my ES7 has recabled by Alex(apuresound) so it's not fair to A/B. however, in my opinion ESW9 is better than ES7.
Speaking about the difference to ES7/HD25, I'd rather say it would be a matter of sound signature preference.
I think the preference would be depended on the genre of music. For example, with decent amp being used, ESW9 sounds excellent with orchestral music as its wider open soundstage and airy clear music representation. Instruments timbre is beautiful as well. On the other hand, I guess heavy metal fan may prefer ES7/HD25, but this is just my thought ..

Anyway, on this second day it's getting better, I like this one.

Just bought it tonight.
Is it just me or does this thing amplify exterior sound? Walking through Shinjuku made me queasy.

Hey Sasaki. Am interested in having Alex recable my ES7's. Am interested in what type of cable you chose (if there are options) and if you found an increase in SQ that would make it worth the effort?
