What's the difference between......

Plugging your headphones into a really great headphone amp or plugging them into a really great stereo receiver?
the difference depends on the headphone output circuitry of the receiver

it's pretty much a hit and miss affair

Of course u have headphone amps that are specificaly TUNED to a particular phone. Much dinero$ though.

The thing is I have a really nice denon receiver and I get tremendous sound out of it. But I'm wondering if a good quality headphone amp would do me better?

even darkvoice 336i sounded much better than my $500 denon receiver.

Most of the home theater receivers I know have amplified headphone outputs. I really do wonder if there's any sound quality difference.

I think HP out on recievers have a merit when using DSPs like Dolby Headphone.

I'm officially confused on what the discussion is about now. At first he says:

And then he is asked:

And he replies:

Which doesn't make any sense at all because it wasn't a "yes or no" question.

Ahh...whatever, and yes, I am curious to know what the sound quality difference is between a separate amp and the amplification from the receiver through the headphone jack.
